Re: President* Trump
Doug Ford, Ontario Premier, was a trump-lite loon, brother of the late Rob Ford, idiot Toronto mayor, whose approval was going down the tubes after trumping his way through his first year. As the pandemic rolled along, however, he grew into the job, dropped the extreme partisanship, focused on solutions. If Trump had wanted to do something to get re-elected, he could have followed Ford, but we all know he's not capable of personal growth or change.

Sometimes, it helps to go to the Trump Twitter Archive to figure out seemingly incomplete tweets.
PINO says that it's about executive compensation and jobs for Americans, but there may be more going on:
The TVA is going green. Is Trump taking revenge?

I almost hurled my lunch at this line.
In private, the efforts to charm Mr. Trump were more pointed, according to a person familiar with the episode: Ms. Noem greeted him with a four-foot replica of Mount Rushmore that included a fifth presidential likeness: his.

"four-foot"?! Where will it be placed?
I can find images of other drawings and figurines that include PINO, but oddly not her gift. Maybe I need a different search phrase.

Re: President* Trump
https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.cnn.co ... index.htmlCoronavirus has already dealt a blow to Social Security's finances. Trump's payroll tax holiday could make it worse
(CNN)President Donald Trump's executive action deferring, and possibly forgiving, payroll taxes could leave Social Security and Medicare on even shakier ground.
The entitlement programs' finances have long been troubled. And the crush of coronavirus-induced layoffs has only deepened the problem by slashing the amount of payroll tax revenue going into their trust funds.
A big fan of payroll tax cuts, Trump signed an executive action Saturday deferring the employee portion of payroll taxes -- 6.2% for Social Security and 1.45% for Medicare -- for workers making less than $100,000 a year through the rest of 2020.
If he's reelected, Trump said, he plans to forgive the taxes and make permanent cuts to the payroll taxes.
"I'm going to make them all permanent," he said.
Otherwise, presumably, workers would have to pay the taxes at the end of the year.
Sleazy.
Goodbye social Security and Medicare. It was nice knowing you.
Your average Joe is too ignorant to realize how bad this could pan out.
One, this does nothing to help those in dire straits thanks to the coronavirus.
Two, it's only a deferment. People will still have to pay the money back once the deferment elapses (this is why it's so sleazy).
Three, he promises to forgive said deferment should he be re-elected. Most people aren't smart enough to set aside the extra money to make up for the deferment once it expires.
He's essentially bribing people to vote for him, while also giving himself a subtle, sneaky way of killing social security and Medicare.
Bust lastly and most importantly, he doesn't have the authority to do this, correct? This is the job of congress.
Scenario: Democrats challenge this, but the potato brained american voter, not being privy to things like subtleties and reality outside of marketing theatrics, only sees "Trump = more money for me, Democrats = against more money for me".

And if Biden wins, he will have to restore (raise taxes) the funds causing a huge backlash against higher taxes and the dems will lose heavily in the midterms.
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

I wonder how the National Thigh Museum t-shirts are doing.... Online shoppers spent $30,000 on the shirts and other merchandise in the first 30 hours after the blooper. That’s nearly the entire amount the museum collected in sales for all of June.
“It just keeps gathering momentum,” said Kristen Kreider, the museum’s director of retail and visitor experience, to the Philadelphia Business Journal. “I just keep thinking, ‘OK, this is going to be over in the next couple of hours. It’ll die down.’ And it doesn’t. It just keeps on going, and we’ll take it.”
The fast-thinking Kreider reached out on social media to hype the shirts after Trump’s remarks, and it worked.
The museum usually sells about 100 of the shirts annually, but some 1,500 flew off the shelf in just three days, Kreider told the Business Journal....

Re: President* Trump
Trump is pulling strings and the press puppets are jumping, as usual. Here's a good explanation:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/business ... ve-orders/
Out of the 4 "Executive Orders" he claimed to issue, only one (housing) is really an Executive Order. The others are memoranda. There's a big difference.
The others a pretty toothless, likely illegal, and not likely to help anything. F'rinstance, suspension of payroll taxes doesn't help anybody who doesn't have a job, and isn't likely to affect the paychecks of those who do. Since the tax is not being eliminated, it will still become due at the end of the year and employers will likely still collect it to pay later. And if you were the employee and given the chance, would you continue to take the deduction or face having to pay up a larger chunk later?
The "$400" unemployment supplement probably isn't going to work most places and isn't sufficiently funded anyway.
Just more distraction and chaos. DDSS.

It's a National Memorial, only a WH staffer would be dumb enough to ask the SD Gov about adding to it.
Donald Trump's latest tweets!
This is Fake News by the failing @nytimes & bad ratings @CNN. Never suggested it although, based on all of the many things accomplished during the first 3 1/2 years, perhaps more than any other Presidency, sounds like a good idea to me! https://t.co/EHrA9yUsAw

I'm not sure what his mushroom size has to do with sort of photoshopping himself onto the mountain, but whatever.
