Joe Kennedy's once-promising Massachusetts Senate primary challenge might be a bust, polls show

... When Kennedy announced his Democratic primary challenge to Sen. Ed Markey, there seemed to be a chance his more centrist bid might pan out, and he even got House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) endorsement. But more and more polls keep putting Markey back on top, including two released Wednesday just days before primary ballots are counted.

Markey, a progressive and co-author of the Green New Deal, has the support of 52 percent of likely Massachusetts Democratic Primary voters, a poll from the UMass Lowell Center for Public Opinion shows. Just 40 percent said they'd vote for Kennedy, putting Markey safely over Kennedy even if the 6 percent of undecided voters in the poll went in the challenger's favor....

I am sooo proud of NC11!
"He was home-schooled in Hendersonville, North Carolina. As a teenager, he worked at a Chick-fil-A restaurant."
Triple whammy - that explains it.

Yeah, I'm not making my own prediction yet. PINO will be PINO, but we should never underestimate the ability of the Dems and especially Joe to fuck things up.

Forget the election, 45SHOLE's ego will never recover from this:

On many levels, Biden is not McGovern and Trump is not Nixon.

"If you think Trump is on the ropes and will surely lose in November, think again.

Our side has limits because we believe in democracy. Trump has no limits because he doesn't.

Trump will do anything to be re-elected."

Robert Reich

It's in the last sentence. Not only will he do anything, there's so much that he, putin and a bunch of con governors can do.

I appreciate what Reich says, and he does have a good point. But alternatively, Trump the president* is the same as Trump the life-long bully and con man. He builds a sense of invincibility and power, always "counter punching." He threatened to sue everybody in the hopes of scaring them off or making it too expensive to defend - and sometimes it worked. But more often than not, he lost the lawsuits that were defended, and much of his "success" was smoke and mirrors. As during a lot of his presidency*, he's lost more challenges than he's won. "We the People" can't afford to buy his shtick and believe him to be some indestructible Freddie Kruger or Jason character.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/biden-tv-rat ... 13115.html
... While TV ratings were down for both conventions compared with 2016, the Democratic convention drew higher overnight ratings than the GOP in 2020 on each of their four nights.

The biggest ratings gap came on night three, when Kamala Harris, Biden’s running mate, drew a 16.2 rating for her acceptance speech, compared with the 10.5 rating Vice President Mike Pence drew for his.

The DNC rented ~5-7 million TVs and tuned them in to the convention just to give their ratings a boost.

Well this does not give me any warm fuzzies.....I'm on Facebook but not active and have seen none of this. Apparently that's not unusual.

Facebook’s media ecosystem, he said, is “a huge blind spot for people who are up to speed on what’s on the front page of The New York Times and what’s leading the hour on CNN.”
But what sticks out, when you dig in to the data, is just how dominant the Facebook right truly is. Pro-Trump political influencers have spent years building a well-oiled media machine that swarms around every major news story, creating a torrent of viral commentary that reliably drowns out both the mainstream media and the liberal opposition.

The result is a kind of parallel media universe that left-of-center Facebook users may never encounter, but that has been stunningly effective in shaping its own version of reality. Inside the right-wing Facebook bubble, President Trump’s response to Covid-19 has been strong and effective, Joe Biden is barely capable of forming sentences, and Black Lives Matter is a dangerous group of violent looters.

Yeah, I could see something like this happening.

I bet this election is going to be a huge shit show, and no matter the outcome bad things are in store for us.

In the scenario you posted, I could see it playing out like this:

- Before the votes are counted, Trump's going to declare victory.
- Mail in ballots are counted over the following few days, swinging things in favor of Biden.
- Trump declares them fraudulent, says something about a coup happening. His cult agrees.

Either way, if he loses - "The election was rigged".
If he wins - well, he wins. Goodnight USA.

Quite the haul, feel bad for anyone watching television in October in a swing state, or anyone using the internet for that matter.

Gonna get ugly.

Democratic presidential candidate Biden raised record haul of over $300 million in August: report

Ah yes - that's one of the many good parts about living in solid blue states. Or red, but who wants to have to live in a solid red state. But who gets the really short end of the stick is people like whack9 who live in a solid red state but still have to put up with the constant yo-mamma-ing mud slinging from their own stations directed across the border. Fortunately, there's tivo, mute buttons, Netflix and other viewing alternatives.

The POTUS and Senate races are at least theoretically in play in SC, and definitely in play in NC. Then, it won't be long before absentee ballots are sent out. We folks near the border are already getting swamped, and have been for weeks or months.

Here in TN I've only seen a couple of Biden ads so far and none for trump. The months long GOP fear and hate festival of ads for US House and Senate candidates has thankfully ended with the selection of the most wingnutty of the wingnuts during the primary. Not sure of who the Senate wingnut candidate will be but Diana Harshbarger won the wingnut House race; she's basically a Marsha Blackburn clone with dark hair. She's also the owner of a local pharmacy and was convicted in the past of selling Chinese drugs as name brand drugs. So she will be right at home with the GOP crowd in DC.
