Martha McSally down 17 points in new Fox News poll showing Democrats surging in key states

... McSally's deficit has grown after she urged supporters to give up meals to donate to her campaign....

Trump's collapse in Arizona has made things even more difficult for the senator. McSally has fully embraced the president's agenda in her campaign but the Fox News poll found that Trump trails Biden, 49% to 40%, among likely voters in the state. Trump trails by 46 points among Hispanic voters, 16 points among women, and 12 points among seniors, who had been a core part of the president's base. Although there are hypothetical pathways for Trump to win the Electoral College while losing Arizona, in practical terms it would likely be a sign of a Biden landslide.

The poll shows that the formerly red state continues to shift away from Republicans. Trump beat former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by just under four points in Arizona in 2016 but Mitt Romney carried the state by 11 points in 2012. Sinema became the first Arizona Democrat elected to the Senate in 30 years in 2018. Even Republicans are now worried that Trump and McSally are so unpopular it may cost them the state legislature for the first time in 50 years....

Biden leads Trump 50% to 46% in North Carolina, according to the survey, where voters prefer the Democrat to handle the coronavirus, by a nine-point margin. The poll also found Democrat Cal Cunningham leading incumbent Sen. Thom Tillis, R-N.C., 48% to 42%, among likely voters. Trump carried North Carolina by less than four points in 2016.

Biden also leads Trump by 50% to 42% in Wisconsin, one of the key states that tipped the election to Trump in 2016....

Trump, despite frequently echoing the network's talking points and calling into its talk shows for softball interviews, accused Fox News of producing "suppression polls" to hurt his campaign. Trump claimed the Fox polls are "fake news."

"I believe we are leading BIG!" he added.

Despite Trump's attempts to spin the data, other new polls suggest that the president failed to get the post-convention bump he hoped for. A recent Selzer & Co. poll found Biden leading by eight points while Quinnipiac showed him leading by 10, CNN/SSRS showed him leading by eight, and YouGov showed him leading by 11....

FiveThirtyEight election forecaster Nate Silver pointed out that Biden "is still more likely than Trump to win Pennsylvania," as well as Arizona and Wisconsin. Silver's Electoral College projection gives Biden about a 7-in-10 chance to win the election, he wrote, "almost exactly the same position he was in before the conventions."

Absentee voting has begun, the earliest in the nation.
600K+ absentee ballots have already been requested. It was 39K in 2016.
Completed ballots are scanned upon receipt, tabulated on election day.
With early voting, perhaps 80% of ballots will be cast before election day. This could mean that many definitive results will be known very soon after the polls close.

And upon further consideration, I don't really see what's so different about him/her than many others in high elected office. (1) Transsexual really doesn't matter, and s/he's not the first if s/he's elected; (2) Satanists aren't much different from Christians - they both believe in the same set of mythical characters; (3) a real anarchist isn't much different from the "small gummint" Republicans and Libertarians who think government is an unnecessary evil.

Democrats Hold Edge as Battle for Senate Majority Becomes 'Knife Fight'

... With the general election field essentially set and the heart of the campaign season beginning, Democrats, riding public dissatisfaction with President Donald Trump’s handling of the pandemic, now find themselves with a solid chance to take control of the Senate next year.

Although Democrats did not get the Republican opponent they wanted in Kansas, polls show Democratic contenders are ahead or running even with incumbents in at least seven states, with the potential to bring even more into play. They need a net gain of only three seats to take the majority should former Vice President Joe Biden, the presumptive nominee, win the White House — four if he does not.

The nonpartisan Cook Political Report recently rated Democrats with a slight advantage in the fight for the Senate majority, and they are on defense only in Alabama, where Democratic incumbent Doug Jones is facing long odds in a deeply conservative state. Michigan, where Republicans also hoped to pick off an incumbent, no longer appears to be in play.

... Still, McConnell and other Republicans recognize they have their hands full in their effort to preserve the majority. They are already planning to spend millions of dollars to bolster Marshall after his tough primary, even in traditionally Republican Kansas.

... At the top of their (D) target list are three senators — Tillis in North Carolina, Martha McSally in Arizona and Cory Gardner in Colorado — who have been consistently losing to their Democratic challengers in polls. Those seats are the most likely to fall into Democratic hands.

Democratic candidates are also running neck and neck with Republican incumbents in Georgia, Iowa, Maine and Montana. A group aligned with McConnell announced that it would spend $21 million this month in Arizona, Georgia, Iowa, Montana and North Carolina, moving up a planned advertising blitz to try to stem Democratic momentum. And the battleground could expand.

New polls show veteran Republican Sen. Lindsey Graham in a tight race in conservative South Carolina against Jaime Harrison, a Democrat. In Kentucky, McConnell remains ahead, but Republicans have reserved significant airtime there if his race with Amy McGrath, a former Marine pilot, tightens.

Democrats sense opportunity in Texas, where the party has just announced a “seven-figure” investment against Sen. John Cornyn in the hope of making him vulnerable to the Democratic pick, MJ Hegar, who received substantial financial aid from the party’s campaign committee and other advocacy groups ...
