Re: President* Trump
The JCS long ago exchanged the briefcase/"football" the duty officer carries everywhere with the president; the JCS have the real one; the one the duty officer carries is just full of hamberders and covfefe. This has worked out good so far.

Too freaking funny
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

If anyone is at all interested at this point, Bob Woodward on Anderson Cooper was scathing and riveting.
And of course, scary as hell.

The first time or so he asked the question, I thought I'd give him benefit of doubt and assume maybe he was actually just bringing a different perspective to what every rational person would call a "lie." As if. By this time, with all the examples you've posted, he's just got his "what lies" response on a key shortcut.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Wed Sep 16, 2020 7:36 amand pp wrote the other day he's still "waiting on some lies. Anybody got one?" I've obliged him repeatedly but as we all know, it's damn near impossible to change the mind or point out the obvious to a cult member. PP would go right through a red light if trump were riding shotgun and told pp the light is actually green. Full speed ahead.
"I wanted to always play it down. I still like playing it down, because I don't want to create a panic," Trump said in a call with Woodward on March 19, according to an audio clip
...
Trump responded: "Yeah, well, I didn't downplay it. I actually, in many ways, I up-played it in terms of action."
...
During the town hall, Trump said that many people don't want to wear masks and claimed that "there are a lot of people think that masks are not good."
...
Asked who those people are, the president said, "Waiters. They come over and they serve you, and they have a mask. And I saw it the other day where they were serving me, and they're playing with the mask. I’m not blaming them. I’m just saying what happens. They're playing with the mask, so the mask is over, and they're touching it, and then they're touching the plate. That can't be good."

Re: President* Trump
What's wild to me is how people that were never politically inclined have been sucked into his personality cult. My stepsister never really followed politics at all, but what she does use is Facebook. It probably wasn't until 2019 or so she started liking Donald Trump. It's 100% because of social media. It's so easy to micro target memes and ads and tailor things to a very specific subset of your audience, whereas in the past this couldn't be done with newspaper ads, billboard, and television ads.
Nowadays most people's window into the world isn't the evening news or the morning paper, it's their Facebook feed. That's frightening.

There should be an "Assbook" for the trump cult to share their delusions exclusively among themselves. Their slogan could be "Kiss us on Assbook."

I like to ask people - if my wife had my kid and shortly thereafter I went and banged a pornstar and paid her money to keep quiet, would you consider me a piece of shit?
You would.
And that's just one among many examples.
Why wouldnt you hold the president of the united states to the same standard you would hold an average person to?

Not that'll do much good to show her this and go Baa Baa to her face.

Facebook’s media ecosystem, he said, is “a huge blind spot for people who are up to speed on what’s on the front page of The New York Times and what’s leading the hour on CNN.”
But what sticks out, when you dig in to the data, is just how dominant the Facebook right truly is. Pro-Trump political influencers have spent years building a well-oiled media machine that swarms around every major news story, creating a torrent of viral commentary that reliably drowns out both the mainstream media and the liberal opposition.
The result is a kind of parallel media universe that left-of-center Facebook users may never encounter, but that has been stunningly effective in shaping its own version of reality. Inside the right-wing Facebook bubble, President Trump’s response to Covid-19 has been strong and effective, Joe Biden is barely capable of forming sentences, and Black Lives Matter is a dangerous group of violent looters.

Don't think so. People may lie to pollsters about their trump preference, but all the house and Senate races are not looking good for the pubs either and that was an accurate barometer in 2018.
But, if I'm wrong, God help us all, it will be the end of the country as we know it.

I don't think there's much reticence in Trumpsters in expressing their membership in his cult. Polling people can make incorrect assumptions about who is likely to vote, or their sample could be mis-selected, but in aggregate they're going to be pretty close.

The Trumpaloons and magats are out in the open. It's the quiet urbanite and suburbanites , i.e. the anti Hillary voters that I worry about. The soccer mom's are not voting for Cheetohead but no one talks about the soccer dad's.O Really wrote: ↑Thu Sep 17, 2020 2:54 pmI don't think there's much reticence in Trumpsters in expressing their membership in his cult. Then again, Uncle Joe ain't Hill, but he's hardly perfect.
