Facebook removes QAnon-supporting candidate’s 'squad' post for inciting violence

Key context: Marjorie Taylor Greene, a House candidate who has history of racist, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic remarks and who has embraced the QAnon conspiracy theory, on Thursday posted a picture of herself holding a rifle next to images of Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) and Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) — three of four members of the so-called liberal freshmen “squad.”

The photo was labeled: “SQUAD’S WORST NIGHTMARE." In the accompanying post, Greene railed against “leftists” who “want to take this country down,” adding, “American need strong conservative Christians to go on the offense against these socialists who want to rip our country apart.”

Omar on Friday called on Facebook to remove the post, which she called a “violent provocation.” The Minnesota lawmaker said the post had already prompted new death threats towards the congresswomen online.

“Posting a photo with an assault rifle next to the faces of three women of color is not advertising. It’s incitement,” she tweeted....

Given 84.38% White GA14's election history, Greene will almost certainly be elected to Congress, the Repugs' new poster girl.

97% of all terrorist acts in the U.S. are carried out by people with right-wing ideologies. The FBI now considers QAnon among the largest terror threats in America. Right-wing militia groups such as 3 Percenters, Oath Keepers, Boogaloo Boys, Wolf Pack, and Sovereign Citizens have been increasingly active. Republicans own hundreds of millions of deadly weapons and have been “prepping” for war. Dozens of right wingers have attacked crowds of protesters with their vehicles.

We are not coming to kill you. We are not planning to steal the election. We are not loading trucks with bombs. We are not a cult of pedophiles. Busloads of antifa are not coming to your town. Most liberals and leftists are not armed. We prefer fair elections, peaceful protests, reason, and compassion to violence.

Your side is planning to kill us and is enlisting your help in the killing. For years, you have been told that liberals and leftists are threatening you and everything you hold dear. Trump has accused Biden of being “against God” and said he “will hurt the Bible.” These completely invented accusations are meant to provoke fear, rage, and revenge. Leaked chat logs show Portland-area pro-Trump activists planning and training for violence, sourcing arms and ammunition and even suggesting political assassinations ahead of a series of contentious rallies in the Oregon city, including one scheduled for this weekend.

The chats on the GroupMe app, shared with the Guardian by the antifascist group Eugene Antifa, show conversations between Oregon members of the Patriots Coalition growing more extreme as they discuss armed confrontations with leftwing Portland activists, and consume a steady diet of online disinformation about protests and wildfires.

The Department of Homeland Security warned on Tuesday that violent white supremacy was the “most persistent and lethal threat in the homeland” in an annual assessment that a former intelligence chief had accused the agency of withholding in deference to President Donald Trump.

The intelligence chief-turned-whistleblower last month accused the department of blocking the report and directing analysts to play down the threat of violent white racism as well as Russian election interference to align the agency’s message with the president’s. But the final report appeared to do no such thing.

The threat assessment highlighted white supremacists as the most deadly among domestic terrorists in recent years and Russia as the primary threat to spreading disinformation.

“I am particularly concerned about white supremacist violent extremists who have been exceptionally lethal in their abhorrent, targeted attacks in recent years,” Chad Wolf, the acting secretary of homeland security, wrote in the foreword to the assessment. The threat report also stated that “Russia is the likely primary covert influence actor and purveyor of disinformation and misinformation within the homeland.”

... Last May, a suspected member of the boogaloo, a generally right-wing movement that seeks to bring about a second civil war, shot and killed a member of the Federal Protective Service during protests in Oakland, California. Trump blamed “the left” for the killing....

This morning on the local (Sinclair) news they aired a story that announced that the price of guns has more than doubled "recently" in the area (upper east TN and southwest VA) and that the price of ammunition has increased five fold, both of which have resulted in "shortages" of guns and ammunition. By coincidence, today is the first day of early voting here in TN. The video with the story showed footage of nearly empty gun display cases and empty ammunition shelves. I suppose the whole point of this is to rouse up the terminally ignorant and acutely stupid to become even more so than they are now. They should have premised the story with this announcement; "Listen up, shitheads."
