hope Frau Schau is still alive, greatest regular season college basketball game ever? the last time 1 versus 2 went into multiple OTs was the famous David Thompson leading NC St. over UCLA in 1974.

Auburn has #1 and #2, Gonzaga and Baylor on our schedule. Should be a challenge.

Friday night we play #1 Gonzaga
and on Saturday the football team plays #1 bammer in the Iron Bowl

there could possibly be a possibility.

3:30 Thursday - St. Joe
10:00 a.m. Friday #1 Gonzaga

UCF on Monday

"playing St. Joe’s and No. 1 Gonzaga would be a challenging start under any circumstances, but considering that the Tigers are replacing all five starters and their sixth man, it becomes a bigger challenge. Considering there are no seniors on the roster and the expected starting point guard, Sharife Cooper, is not cleared to play, the Tigers’ task is even tougher."

Are we building up the challenge to make the victory even more momentous, or are we offering pre-excuses for a loss?
Seems like somebody at Auburn is taking your "strength of schedule" preference a little too literally. :lol:

Did y'all see this

Somehow Samford went out and put up 174 points against Division III Greenville, which still found a way to score 99! The hosting Bulldogs scored 99 in the first half and a more respectable 75 in the second half.

We started off against Duke last year. I think it's a Pearl thing.
I hate it that our #1 player was ruled eligible by ncaa in the spring, but one week ago they decided he needed further review. I'm not sure what the problem is -

I guess it makes sense. Even though/if no one knew what Person was doing, there will likely be sanctions. Hopefully doing it voluntarily with this all freshman team will be enough and next year's team can do post season without covid.

We won even though it looked like we were trying to give it away at the end. after leading by double digits for most of the game they came back and tied. We won in OT.

Kinda cool story about St. Joseph's Tiger Hawks

I'm thinking the 'Heels got the usual benefit of tradition in the rankings. I think probably names like Carolina, Duke, Kentucky, Michigan, etc. get pre-populated into the pre- and early season rankings. But eventually they have to actually play a game.

Duke men's basketball cancels rest of nonconference slate

Duke announced Thursday it would not play any more nonconference basketball games this season "out of an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to allow the Blue Devils' student-athletes time over the holidays to spend with their families."
Okay, but I'm not sure that families = abundance of caution.
... Duke has struggled this season, falling to 2-2 after a 15-point home loss to Illinois on Tuesday.

Following the loss to the Fighting Illini, Krzyzewski questioned the idea of playing college basketball during a pandemic.

"I would just like for the safety, the mental and physical health of players and staff to assess where we're at," Krzyzewski said after the game.

"People are saying the next six weeks are going to be the worst," he added. "To me, it's already pretty bad. On the other side of it, there are these vaccines that are coming out. By the end of the month, 20 million vaccine shots will be given. By the end of January or in February, another 100 million. Should we not reassess that? See just what would be best?"
I question all play this year.
Alabama coach Nate Oats responded to those quotes Thursday, saying "We 100 percent should be playing basketball."

"Do you think if Coach K hadn't lost his two nonconference games at home that he would still be saying that?" Oats said at a news conference.
Could be, however:
Alabama was not on Duke's schedule;
Alabama and Duke are in different conferences;
Alabama scheduled a pretty weak nonconference lineup;
Oats' record at Alabama is 19–16;
Krzyzewski's record at Duke is 1,084–291.

Maybe Oats should STFU.

He was all in until suddenly he wasn't, but if he wants to claim player safety he can.

I don't have an opinion on the reasons for Krzyzewski's change to greater CV-19 safety. I was just struck by how strange it is for Alabama coach Nate Oats to be the one calling him out on it.

NC's highest ranked team is #20 Duke :wtf: , and it probably doesn't even deserve that much at 3-2.

un-ranked Auburn.

This hopefully is a building year. We did lose 3 to the NBA last year.
