But not red.

The color is called that but not ewu

Hex: #dd550c
R: 221
G: 85
B: 12
:?: True, not red, but we're discussing EWU's orange field. Hex: #dd550c is even called Auburn Orange.

Except that EWU has a very red field when you look at their photos.

Hex color: #A10022
RGB: 161 0 34
CMYK: 5 100 48 22
Pantone: PMS 207 C

Very red

I thought that the ncaa closed the door on colored fields long ago.

It depends on the pic.

Blue/orange field for Jordan-Hare!

But you're correct that it's officially called red. It's still closer to auburn than green is.

I'm not sure about the NCAA. I thought I remembered that Boise State trademarked non-green.

No matter, it's all just winding you up, anyhow. I wish you Boise State's success. :P

That's easy. All colors are closer to red than green.

The eagle is obviously a blatant cultural misappropriation of Northwestern indigenous art.

Whose eagle. The red field eagle or the hockey mask?

The "Gator" eagle, above, and the hockey mask, at least according to the indigenous artists who are likely unhappy they didn't get paid for something that looked similar to some of their art but not close enough for a copyright infringement. :roll:

I didn't think you meant Auburn, but had to check. Our eagle is depicted realistically and our tiger(2) are a cartoon of our own making - Aubie and retro Aubie from long before is making a comeback.

We have been copied - most notably by clemson.

Old Aubie is pretty cool. New Aubie looks a bit lame - much more huggable than tough. Bring back Old Aubie.

He's been gaining popularity over the last few years but has always been around. I think the new name "retro" Aubie increased his popularity. College kids want to be Retro - don't they?

I don't believe that I've ever seen new aubie on a shirt or hat.

New Aubie is really pretty cool during games. Lots of looks, including this year always wearing a mask. The team (3) who rotate on the field are extremely athletic and put on a fun show. And of course the kids love him.

Does Aubie do pushups after every score like Bucky Badger does? "At the Indiana game on November 13, 2010 Bucky did 573 push-ups for the winning score of 83–20."

Was bucky selected to compete?

AUBIE WINS NUMBER 9

On Friday, January 15, Aubie was named the Mascot National Champion at the 2016 UCA Cheer and Dance competition at the ESPN Wide World of Sports in Orlando, Florida. Aubie competed in the Division 1A Mascot group along with ten other mascots who were invited to compete based on scores from a highlight video submitted in November. On Friday night Aubie performed a 90 second skit that, combined with the score from his video, won him his ninth national title.

The 1st minute is a little lame, but the rest is a little of what he does, including running around the field in full costume with a huge flag after a touchdown.

According to some arbitrary made-up list of "25 most popular mascots," Bucky is #12 and Aubie is #11. But the list has to be a total set-up rigged fake because the clearly best mascot ever (Chief Osceloa) is only #7. EDIT: And because the Colorado buffalo is not even on the list.

I don't think that Testudo Terrapin makes any lists. :problem:

Image

There's also a statue.

Image

Stumbled on this:
Mascot

... Beginning in the 2000s, the university promoted the slogan "Fear the Turtle" as a rallying cry for school pride.
:confusion-scratchheadblue:
The statue's nose is polished by passers-by that have rubbed it for good luck. Around finals week, students start giving offerings to Testudo in the hope of good grades. In 2013, the Testudo statue caught fire because of an ill-advised mixture of offerings and a lit candle. Local news channels reported about this event and it trended on Twitter.
funny article and video

:o
During the COVID-19 pandemic, campus guidelines included instructions to not rub the statue's nose unless using disinfectant wipes before and after to clean it.

Oh well, 34-37. Yeah, the refs blew a couple of calls, but there were also:
Too many legit penalties;
An uninjured player that quit after the 1st half :confusion-scratchheadblue: ;
A bunch of drops way downfield :angry-banghead: ;
2 lost fumbles.

2020 sucks. Go Colorado's dissed Ralphie the Buffalo!
