I heard pundits talking about how many UNC players are missing, but I haven't bothered looking it up. Oh well.
It's probably true. They don't usually have to make up an excuse to fold in the big ones.
 To be fair, idk whether UNC players and coaches are whining about the absences.

Idk why Kentucky (4-6) is favored over North Carolina State (8-3).
Vegas was very close, the announcers did mention NC State depletions. North Carolina State 21, Kentucky 23  , but Kentucky bettors got screwed  .

Alabama is favored by 8 over Ohio State :( . That's very close to what Clemson was favored over Ohio State  .

We announced immediately after our last game that the bowl was voluntary and would not reflect on the player next year.

Some of the first string that missed:
Top receiver and fastest man in football - the Schwartz
Tank - our top runner
defensive back Christian Tutt
linebacker K.J. Britt
Defensive back Devan Barrett
Roger McCreary has 45 tackles, seven TFLs, six pass breakups and three picks.

Northwestern may have had an equal group out. idk, but damn, best receiver, runner and 3 key players off defense kinda changes a team.

At least we shed ourselves of gus, may he find another team in the sec.

Who knows? The announcers say that UNC's last appearance in a major Bowl was in 1950. :)

I guess that depends on one's definition of "major" bowl. But certainly they have never been a feared opponent.

New Year's Six, I'm pretty sure. Idk what the announcers were thinking. UNC beat Auburn 16–10 in the December 31, 2001 Peach Bowl. That was their last major Bowl.

Oh man, UNC hung in there for 56 minutes, then got killed by dropped passes and TAMU off-tackle runs.

I don't bet on sports, except for the occasional March Madness pool, and know very little about handicapping. But still, I had an idea. I've generally found it silly that handicappers set the spread then blame a team for "not covering." It's always "unexpected injury" or "unusually bad day" or whatever - never "boy, we blew that one." So if that's the way it is to be, let's make it mean something. For each game, there is a spread. So if Alabama is favored by 8.5, then they have to win by that or more or they actually lose and Buckeyes get the trophy. A team's season record is based not on wins from raw data, but wins against the spread. There would need to be some impartial statistical way to establish the spread, but it's probably possible. No more complicated than the current ranking/"playoff" eligibility formulae.

Yeah, I'm just joking, mostly, but that's the way it is in bowling and golf. Why not football?

I kept track of the score but didn't watch any of it, perhaps for the first time in years.

Watched the first quarter and it was interesting. Started flipping in the second and by halftime it was unwatchable.

It would appear that by getting pasted by Clemson and Alabama, Notre Dame may have been a bit of a poser.

History-making female athlete invited to Biden inauguration

Sarah Fuller, the first woman to score in a Power Five conference football game, says she’s been invited to attend President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration on Wednesday.
I'm pretty sure they mean the first woman to score game points in a Power Five conference football game. :o ;)
... Fuller helped Vanderbilt win the Southeastern Conference women’s soccer tournament as the goalkeeper. She helped out the football team while it was dealing with COVID-19 issues.
Goalies rock!
She became the first woman to play in a Power Five game Nov. 28 with a squib kick to open the second half of a loss at Missouri in the only time she got on the field in that game. She got another chance on Dec. 12, when Vanderbilt had only 49 scholarship players for its game against Tennessee.

Fuller, listed second out of three available kickers on the depth chart, came out for the extra point that tied the game at 7 with 1:50 left in the first quarter.
:happy-cheerleaderkid:
She converted her second point-after with 7:22 left in the fourth quarter of the 42-17 loss.
Some boy kicked the 39 Yd Field Goal :confusion-scratchheadblue: . However, he has not been invited to the inauguration.

Auburn’s new football-only facility has officially been approved.

The Board of Trustees voted in favor Friday, per Josh Vitale of the Montgomery Advertiser. The facility comes with an estimated price stage of $91.9 million.

The Football Performance Center is set to house Auburn’s football operations building, a new indoor practice facility, two natural turf practice fields, weight room, players’ locker room, players’ lounge, barbershop, two recording studios, and even a flight simulator
