Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Far-right suspect in Queens hoax bomb already under NYPD investigation

A man suspected of placing a hoax bomb that evacuated a mall in Queens, New York, on Monday morning is a right-wing conspiracy theorist who was arrested and accused of arson last week and has been under investigation by police for at least a week.

Law enforcement officials said they are looking for the man, Louis Shenker, 22, after New York City firefighters discovered a stolen car with wire, cans and electrical wiring in the form of a hoax bomb device on top of the car's trunk. No explosives were found in the vehicle — a Tesla with Nevada plates parked on a spiral ramp between parking garage levels at the Queens Place mall — but police rescued a husky dog from inside it.

The car had pro-Black Lives Matter movement signage, raising questions of whether the signs were intended to discredit the movement, three senior law enforcement officials said....

Proud Boys leader arrested in Washington DC ahead of election protests

The leader of the far-right nationalist group the Proud Boys was arrested in Washington DC ahead of protests in the nation’s capital to support Donald Trump’s attempts to overturn the results of the presidential election.

Enrique Tarrio was arrested on Monday on destruction of property charges after he admitted to destroying a Black Lives Matter banner on a historic African-American church during last month’s violent demonstrations.

He also was in possession of two high capacity firearm magazines at the time of his arrest, according to a spokesman for the Metropolitan Police Department.

Tarrio, who is also a convicted felon, was subsequently charged with possession of a high capacity feeding device, which could carry a three-year prison sentence, if convicted....

On Monday, Tarrio as well as Proud Boys LLC and eight others who participated in burning church banners were targeted in a lawsuit from Metropolitan AME with the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights Under Law.

The lawsuit filed on Monday includes several pages of social media messages coordinating plans for demonstrations and violence on 12 December, including calls to stock up on guns and ammunition and “keep our enemies awake.”

“In countless messages transmitted over social media platforms and messaging services, Defendants and their co-conspirators promised that there would be violence in their wake, and, as the events [of 12 December] demonstrate, they made good on their promises,” according to the lawsuit.

The church and plaintiffs seek “compensatory, punitive, and injunctive relief, and aims, with this action, to ensure that nothing like this will happen again at the hands of Defendants, their affiliates, agents and co-conspirators – not to Metropolitan AME, and not to the thousands of other people and organizations that find themselves targeted for violence by the Proud Boys.”

US Attorney Michael Sherwin has described the attacks as hate crimes; the FBI has also sought information from the public to identify suspects.

“They harmed people of colour, and every person who lives and works in our city who believes in fairness, justice and racial equity,” Mr Sherwin said in a statement last month....

WAR

https://www.washingtonpost.com/technolo ... -protests/

Worth reading - I'll post more of the article if you hit a paywall

"Far-right online forums are seething with references to potential violence and urging supporters of President Trump to bring guns to Wednesday’s protests in Washington — in violation of local laws — as Congress meets to certify President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.

Many of the posts appear to be direct responses to Trump’s demands that his supporters pack the nation’s capital in support of his bogus claims that November’s national vote for Biden resulted from election fraud. Congress’s largely ceremonial role in confirming Biden’s victory has emerged as a catalyst for expected unrest that has D.C. police and the National Guard deploying on city streets to quell potential trouble.

Talk of guns and potential violence is rife on the encrypted messaging app Telegram, the conservative social media site Parler and on thedonald.win, an online forum that previously operated on Reddit before the company banned it in June after years of racism, misogyny, anti-Semitism and calls for violence."

"Trump’s tweet last month pushing baseless fraud claims and promoting the “big protest” on Jan. 6 — “Be there, will be wild!” — has become a central rallying cry. It was the top post on thedonald.win Tuesday morning, and anonymous commenters saw it as a call to action: “We’ve got marching orders,” the top reply said.

Discussion in the thread followed about how most effectively to sneak guns into Washington, laced with occasional references to using them. D.C. has some of the nation’s strictest gun laws: Openly carrying guns is banned, concealed-carry licenses from other states aren’t recognized, and all firearms in the District must be registered with local police.

Of carrying guns in D.C., one poster in the thread wrote, “Yes, it’s illegal, but this is war and we’re clearly in a post-legal phase of our society.” Wrote another: “LIVE AS A FREE AMERICAN AND BRING YOUR ARMS!”'

"More than half of the top 50 posts on thedonald.win’s homepage Monday related to Wednesday’s certification featured calls of violence within the top five comments, according to research by Advance Democracy, a group headed by former FBI analyst and Senate investigator Daniel J. Jones, who lead the review of the CIA’s torture program."

Proud Boy = cop, not that it's a surprise.

Exclusive: Proud Boys leader was ‘prolific’ informer for law enforcement
Canadian politicians agree to designate Proud Boys as terrorist entity

A motion calling for the far-right group Proud Boys to be formally designated as a terrorist entity has been agreed by members of Canada’s parliament.

The motion, which was introduced by the New Democratic Party (NDP) leader Jagmeet Singh, passed with unanimous consent in the House of Commons on Monday.

The agreed motion asks the government to “use all available tools to address the proliferation of white supremacists and hate groups starting with the immediately designating the Proud Boys as a terrorist entity.”

Although the motion was passed in the House of Commons, the federal government confirmed that it is symbolic, as it will still need to decide to formally add the group to the list of terrorist entities for it to be made official, according to Global News....

If the federal government decides to designate Proud Boys as a terrorist entity, the group will join a long list including The Taliban, Al Qaeda and Boko Haram alongside many others.
Almost all terrorist groups listed by Canada are Muslim.

Currently listed terrorist entities

There are also a handful of Latin American left-wingers, but no Latin American right-wingers that I can see. Strikingly, there is only one White supremacist listing, Blood & Honour (B&H)/Combat 18 (C18). Seems that Canadian anti-terrorist officials may be even more biased and nonsensical than American ones.

Better late than never:
US issues terror alert over anti-government extremists

The US Department of Homeland Security declared a nationwide terrorism alert Wednesday, citing the potential threat from domestic anti-government extremists opposed to Joe Biden as president.

"Information suggests that some ideologically-motivated violent extremists with objections to the exercise of governmental authority and the presidential transition, as well as other perceived grievances fueled by false narratives, could continue to mobilize to incite or commit violence," the department said....

Trump supporter found with pipe bombs accused of plot to attack Democrats

The FBI believes California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) and the Bay Area headquarters of Twitter and Facebook were targets of a man facing federal explosives charges, according to a criminal complaint.

Driving the news: Prosecutors charged Ian Benjamin Rogers after finding weapons including five pipe bombs, 49 guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition following a Jan. 15 search of his Napa County home and auto repair business. His alleged goal was to ensure former President Trump remained in office.

Image
Officers found a "White Privilege Card" during the search.

... For the record: Rogers is facing federal charges of unlawful possession of an unregistered destructive device.

Napa County District Attorney Allison Haley told the Los Angeles Times Wednesday that he also faces 28 felony charges in state court "for possession of the explosives and weapons, including possession of an illegal silencer and multiple unregistered assault weapons."
Throw away the key.

FCC fines neo-Nazi nearly $10 million for hateful robocalls

A neo-Nazi who robocalled tens of thousands of people in at least eight states now faces a nearly $10 million fine from the Federal Communications Commission.

According to the FCC, Scott D. Rhodes, a Nazi sympathizer based in Montana, fired off more than 34,000 pre-recorded messages bashing Black and Jewish politicians, Latinos, and journalists, and has until mid-February to pay off a $9.9 million fine before the case is referred to the Justice Department.

The communications regulator announced the fine on 14 January, and said Rhodes violated the Truth in Caller ID Act by making it look like the messages were coming from local numbers, a practice called “neighbor spoofing.

“Not only were the calls unlawful, but the caller took them to new levels of egregiousness,” said outgoing FCC Chairman Ajit Pai in a statement. “With today’s fine, we once again make clear our commitment to aggressively go after those who are unlawfully bombarding the American people with spoofed robocalls.” ...
 Lock all robocallers up, especially the neo-Nazi ones.

Bill O'Reilly Asks Where Is The Rise In White Supremacy, Gets Well And Truly Ratioed

Bill O’Reilly, the disgraced former Fox News host and noted Donald Trump apologist, on Tuesday faced backlash after he disputed President Joe Biden’s warning about the rise of white supremacy in the United States.

Biden, during a televised CNN town hall on Tuesday, said escalating white supremacy ― highlighted by the State Department last year ― posed the greatest domestic terror threat to the country.

O’Reilly appeared to disagree:

O’Reilly’s rhetorical question soon got ratioed on Twitter.

Critics bluntly reminded him of his own history of racist comments and past refusal to condemn Trump as a white supremacist. In 2019, he said connecting Trump to the racist movement was “a cheap piece of political propaganda.”

Trump, who has a deep history of racism, was reluctant to call out white supremacists throughout his presidency. Supporters displayed white supremacist symbols during their deadly storming of the U.S. Capitol last month.

O’Reilly previously criticized calls for reparations for the descendants of slaves. “Most people in America, even people in poverty, live very well,” he claimed.

Other Twitter users pointed out the white supremacist and nationalist rhetoric peddled by current personalities on Fox News. O’Reilly left the network in 2017 after it emerged he’d paid tens of millions of dollars settling allegations of sexual harassment.

Facebook removes hundreds more accounts as right-wing violence spreads

Cool. Not that earthshaking, but this caught my eye:
... Boogaloo adherents believe a new civil war is looming and are often heavily armed. Some ally with right-wing militias and have sought to capitalize on the protests by instigating violence they hope will escalate into a broader conflict.

On Tuesday, two adherents were charged in connection with the murder of a security guard on duty at a federal building during a protest in Oakland.

According to an affidavit supporting the criminal complaint, suspects Steven Carrillo and Robert Alvin Justus Jr. belonged to the same unidentified Facebook group and discussed attacking federal authorities on May 28....
How many of you saw right-wingers blame BLM for murdering the security guard? Maybe our own 1 FAT CAN, or CPF or LNF?
In the blue solidarity section of his overwrought speech VP Q-tip cited the federal security guard killed in Oakland "during the rioting". No mention that he was murdered by cowardly right-wingers. So much for not bearing false witness, you pious asshole.

Trevor Noah blasts VP Q-tip for this from 1:55 to 5:15.

A 'Boogaloo' extremist group destroyed evidence from an investigation into one of their members who allegedly killed a police officer

Members of the "Boogaloo" extremist movement were charged with conspiring to destroy evidence tied to the investigation of a fatal shooting of a federal officer, authorities said on Friday.

Four members of the Northern California-based Grizzly Scouts allegedly tried to cover up that one of their members had shot and killed the officer, a federal grand jury indictment said.

A second officer was also injured during the incident....

Chat messages including one that read: "Dudes i offed a fed," were deleted....

Proud Boys saw wave of contributions from Chinese diaspora before Capitol attack

... Their gifts made up more than 80% of the $106,107 raised for medical costs for members of the Proud Boys who were stabbed during violent clashes in Washington in mid-December.

The donations, which are included in a trove of hacked GiveSendGo data provided to USA TODAY and posted on the whistleblower site Distributed Denial of Secrets, raise several questions. Chiefly: Why would people from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, and members of the Chinese American community, donate to an organization with deep ties to white supremacists, whose members flash white power signals and post racist memes on social media?

The surprising answer to this question is that the Proud Boys enjoy significant support from a slice of the Chinese American community and the broader Chinese diaspora.

Some Chinese Americans have bought in to the rhetoric spread by the Proud Boys, conspiracy theorists such as Alex Jones and conservative commentators that America is under attack from communism. They believe the Proud Boys are on the vanguard of protecting the country from a communist army controlled by antifa and the Black Lives Matter movement – claims that have been widely debunked.

For some who left China in rejection of communism, particularly those who support former President Donald Trump, the Proud Boys have taken on an almost mythical status as tough street soldiers on the front lines of this battle between democracy and communism.

"You have to understand how we feel – we came from communist China and we managed to come here and we appreciate it here so much," said Rebecca Kwan, who sent the Proud Boys $500 on Christmas Day. "The Proud Boys are for Trump and they are fighting antifa, and can you see anything good that antifa did except destroy department stores and small businesses?"

... "This isn't a surprise for us," said Kaiser Kuo, host and co-founder of the Sinica Podcast, which discusses current affairs in China. "I know these people, I know what they're all about. Even this recent wave of anti-Asian hate crime, which you would think might have shaken them out of their admiration for these racists and crypto-fascists like the Proud Boys – it's actually only reinforced their beliefs."
:angry-banghead:
Kuo stressed that most Chinese Americans voted for President Joe Biden and do not support Trump or the groups that back him. But he said there is a deeply conservative faction of the Chinese American community that embraces the misogyny and even racist attitudes common among America's far-right....

On May 27th, KCSO Special Operations Division intercepted a message indicating that Blevins was preparing to proceed with a mass shooting. In the message, Mr. Blevins made a specific threat that included Wal-Mart. Working with the FBI, KCSO Investigators confirmed Mr. Blevins’ capability of following through with the threat and moved immediately to arrest him,” the sheriff’s office said in the press release.

Proud Boys leader says the far-right group is 'hemorrhaging money'

The Proud Boys and Oath Keepers are both struggling to bring in money and hold onto members, as the far-right organizations deal with the repercussions of being connected to the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

The Oath Keepers launched in 2009 and the Proud Boys in 2016. The Wall Street Journal interviewed current and former leaders and members of both groups, and they described how the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers first started having financial issues after the 2017 Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia. PayPal booted the Oath Keepers, founder Stewart Rhodes said, even though his group wasn't there, and he had to ask members to send their dues by mail. Proud Boys leader Enrique Tarrio said PayPal, Stripe, and other credit card processors — including several used by porn sites and gun makers — also banned him.

More than three dozen members and associates of the Oath Keepers and Proud Boys have been arrested in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, and prosecutors are taking a close look at any financial backing by the groups, as well as the roles played by Rhodes and Tarrio; the men did not enter the Capitol building during the riot.

Tarrio told the Journal the e-commerce site he runs to support himself and other Proud Boys has been hurt by the fact that they can't process credit card payments. "We've been bleeding money since January," he said, "like hemorrhaging money." Barely making enough to cover rent, Tarrio said he set up a secretive e-commerce site to sell merchandise with liberal slogans like "Black Lives Matter" and "Impeach 45," but wouldn't give out its name.
:violin:
As for the Oath Keepers, former board members told the Journal membership has dropped 80 percent from its peak, and Rhodes said in April that the group has less than $10,000 in its bank account. Multiple board members have accused Rhodes of using Oath Keepers money to put down a deposit on a house in Montana and pay for liquor, guns, steaks, and items from the adult store Alley Katz Nighties N Naughties. Rhodes' lawyer did not dispute that he spent money on these items....

Hell, you ain't seen nothing yet; starting next month any dipshit with money will be able to walk around with a hidden or displayed gun in TN with no requirement for training, safety, or sanity. By the end of the year a lot of folks will be reduced to eating rotten sardines while sitting on discarded engine blocks scavenged from the Bristol speedway. Stray bullets will eliminate a considerable number of them and the rest will die from a rare form of brain scum brought on by foul sardines. I am already getting ready for this big bore lunacy and am fashioning myself a dynamite belt that will enable me to whip out a stick in a flash, light it up, and heave it toward whatever gets in my way.
