Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

If trump "heals" him by the laying on of hands or the brandishing of snakes and Madison rises from his wheelchair and takes a jog around the block, I will be impressed.
Look for strings before being impressed.

The FBI arrested the man seen with a Confederate flag inside of the US Capitol

Image

A man seen prominently waving a Confederate flag after breaching the US Capitol building was arrested in Delaware on Thursday, according to the Department of Justice.

The FBI has charged Kevin Seefried and his son, Hunter, with two felonies: knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority as well as violent entry and disorderly conduct on Capitol grounds, according to court documents obtained by Insider.

The FBI had previously circulated images online of Kevin Seefried for unlawfully entering the US Capitol. According to court documents, both Seefrieds were identified after a coworker of Hunter Seefried notified the FBI that Hunter had "bragged about being in the Capitol with his father on January 6, 2021."

Though photos of Hunter Seefried in the Capitol did not go viral like his father, video footage from the US Capitol shows Hunter climbing through a broken window at the Capitol and later taking a selfie inside of the building....

That is very true, but Delaware still voted to decline secession and remained a Union state.
. 90% of the slaves were free in Delaware by the time the civil war errupted, and Delawareans overwhelmingly fought for the union, so it still stands the dude is an idiot, just like the ones I see in NJ flying the confederate battle flag whose ancestors likely fought for the union (or weren't even in the US yet!)

On the flip, this dude lives in southern Delaware so it's entirely plausible he has roots in the south and ancestors who fought for the Confederacy.

I'm not defending him, nor am I defending him carrying the flag into the Capitol building, I'm just pointing out that my argument that he's an idiot because he's from Delaware, a Union state that overwhelmingly decided to stay in the Union, doesn't account for where this dudes roots lie.

That, and also waving the confederate flag doesn't mean that you have any particular affinity for the southern traitors of the civil war. It's more just a flag of general "rebellion" not much different from flying the Jolly Roger.

Georgia's First Vietnamese American State Rep Wears Áo Dài to Swear-In

Bee Nguyen, Georgia's first Vietnamese American state representative, donned an áo dài to her swearing-in ceremony on Tuesday. Regarded as the most popular national costume of Vietnam, the áo dài for women is a long dress with a contoured top that flows over loose-fitting trousers that reach the sole of the feet. Nguyen, 39, decided to wear the garment in response to the Capitol siege on Jan. 6, in which rioters carried the South Vietnamese flag. "When I saw the South Vietnamese flag flown during last week’s attempted coup, I felt deep anger and shame. I decided to wear my Viet áo dài to take the oath of office — because they don’t get to speak for me," Nguyen tweeted....

After winning her re-election bid in November, Nguyen was instrumental in disproving President Donald Trump's claims of voter fraud in battleground Georgia. She scoured through public records and visited voters in question to verify their identities. In a hearing, Nguyen confronted a pro-Trump data analyst who came up with a list of "questionable" voters. She determined that at least 128 people -- over 10% -- in that list voted legally. Nguyen also condemned the Capitol invasion as soon as it happened. "Domestic terrorists are trying to overthrow our country. We knew all along that Trump was a danger to America — Republican leaders knew, too. And they let this happen. They continue to let it happen every day," Nguyen tweeted. "Put your country first before it’s too late."

:puke-left: :obscene-birdiered:
54 Percent of Americans Say Trump Should Be Criminally Charged in Connection With Capitol Attack

... Sixty-six percent of Americans also say he behaved irresponsibly, due to his statements and actions since the election.

Elsewhere in the poll, nine in 10 Americans oppose the events that took place on Jan. 6, while seven in 10 say Trump carries at least some responsibility for it. Moreover, 56 percent favor Congress’ push to ban him from holding elected office ever again.

The poll also sees Trump exiting the presidency with a 38 percent job approval rating, while 68 percent disapprove, comparable to—but not surpassing—his peak disapproval in August 2018. He’s the first president in modern polling, dating to 1939, to never attain majority approval ever. His career average approval rating is also the lowest for any president since 1939....

His lawyer will say that because of a terrible freak accident during training, this fireman will violently heave any portable extinguisher within sight without provocation. Prior to this, he was banned from all public buildings. Now it's worse.

Times past can't really be judged by today's standards, but always interesting to note discrepancies in the way too easy South bad, North good storyline.
There's also that delaware signed the 13th Amendment in 1901 some 35 years after every southern state except for Mississippi. Border state Kentucky was the only other state later.

It all goes to show, that much like today, the differences between us (except for the very extremes) aren't that great.

My family first settled in what is now Chester in 1755. They didn't stay long and moved west to the Pittsburgh area and then 2 of the 6 sons rafted to Tennessee in 1799.

Yeah, opps indeed, and my apologies to the unfairly disparaged cop. I guess optics can be misleading....
US Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman is even more of a hero than we knew ;) . He led the terrorists away from Senators and "just seconds" away from right to VP Q-tip.
Pence Was ‘Seconds’ Away From Being Spotted by Capitol Mob: WaPo
BY THE SKIN OF HIS TEETH

The Trumpist mob that stormed the Capitol last week got dangerously close to one of their apparent targets: Vice President Mike Pence. A lone police officer was chased up the stairs during the attack, and if the officer had been unable to hold rioters back, they would have reached the landing and seen Pence, The Washington Post reports. Instead, rioters reached a landing area just seconds after Pence and his family passed through as the vice president was whisked away to safety.

... During the attack some rioters were heard chanting, “Hang Mike Pence!” Jacob Chansley, the “QAnon Shaman,” left a note on Pence’s desk that said, “it’s only a matter of time, justice is coming,” his charging documents allege.
