The Religion Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

I saw a story about Pat Roberson comparing the election to a football game where the crowd knows the score but the losing team wants to change the rules after the game is over. Pat has evidently jumped ship and had a come to Jesus moment that supercedes his earlier come to Jesus moments. He may have even broken out his snakes.

In about ten minutes I will be seated before my tv with coffee and a little of the finest medicine known to man while anxiously waiting for Robert Jefress "Pathway to Victory" show to come on. It's one of the funniest shows I've ever seen and never fails to send me rolling in the floor and laughing so hard it makes my stomach hurt. It's even funnier these past few weeks since Jeffress is a trumpist fool as well as a religious charlatan. Plus the long standing title of his show is now funnier than before when considered in the trump context of a stolen election. "Pathway to Victory" my ass.

I would be curious to know under what pretense you were "undercover" there.....stolen snakes? Accessory after the snake? Fugitive preacher?
Fugitive congregation? Last time I checked it wasn't illegal to be a religious nutjob.
Leo Lyons was a narc. Clearly, he'd received a tip that snake handlers are so stupid that they must be on drugs. ;)
Nah. I can say this now. We weren't interested in the snake handlers or their religious ways.
We were keeping tabs on a heroin/coke/meth dealer known to frequent the area.
We got him; not there though.

We are experiencing a horrendous "post-holiday surge" in COVID-19 cases and deaths.

Franklin Graham Compares 10 Republicans Who Voted to Impeach Trump to Betrayal of Christ

"the riot at the U.S. Capitol did not change Graham's support of the president, leading Graham to draw parallels between Trump's impeachment and the betrayal of Jesus Christ as described in the Bible.

"Shame, shame on the ten Republicans who joined with @SpeakerPelosi & the House Democrats in impeaching President Trump yesterday,"'

"It makes you wonder what the thirty pieces of silver were that [Democratic House] Speaker [Nancy] Pelosi promised for this betrayal."'

Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

No doubt in my mind that Franklin Graham would be in the front of the group that would kill Christ should he make an appearance. And he would think himself righteous and his followers would gush in awe.

Even Biden's Bible is bigger. :o :D

Image
... Vice President Kamala Harris, a Baptist with family members who are Hindu and Jewish, took her oath of office using two Bibles. One belonged to the late Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, while the other belonged to Regina Shelton, a close family friend whom Harris thought of as a “second mother.” ...
Marshall is an excellent choice and bodes well for her tenure . . . I hope.

Trump supporting priest ousted after performing exorcisms to try to rid Biden from White House

Image

... The Diocese of Madison announced earlier this month that the parish and reverend John Zuhlsdorf had reached a mutual decision on the conservative priest leaving his post.

In a statement accompanying the announcement, Madison Catholic Diocese bishop Donald Hying said that Rev Zuhlsdorf had left his post to “to pursue other opportunities.”

... The announcement came just a few days after Rev Zuhlsdorf live-streamed on YouTube multiple exorcisms of alleged election fraud. The videos have since been deleted from the video-sharing platform.
Zuhlsdorf got exorcised from the diocese and YouTube.
... He added: “As exorcists will confirm, the demons are very good with electronic equipment,” seemingly referencing false claims from Mr Trump’s allies that voting machines were rigged in favour of President Joe Biden on 3 November....
 :chalo: Funny, he looks smart.

I saw a story yesterday that said about half a dozen trumpers have taken a position with TN GOP US Senator Bill Hagerty. The prolific liar Judd Deere is one of them. Looks like Hagerty is set to give Marsha Blackburn a run for who is the most wingnutty of them. Marsha has more experience and wingnut history but Bill may be able to make a significant showing.

Yeah, Judd is a particularly offensive bastard. You can find video clips of him being offensive. Actually, you cannot find video clips of him NOT being offensive, lying, or peddling bullshit trump type nonsense. If I remember, he's gonna be Hagerty's "communications director" so I may have to look up his contact info after all. I must first wait for Hagerty to do or say something stupid. It won't take long.
