Good news/kindness only (please) thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Hi Leo - glad you recovered, although your logic generator seems to have been adversely affected. As long as there are any laws, there will always be outlaws. If you're a religious sort of person, you'd recognize the truth of that from Adam and Eve becoming outlaws when really they didn't have many laws to abide by. But this issue really isn't whether you can totally eliminate something by outlawing it - it's how many fewer cockfights do you have when they're illegal compared to how many you'd have if they were allowed. But you ought to understand that since you favor outlawing personal drug use and yet haven't ended it.
Thanks. That shit's a bitch! Inasmuch as I am no longer an LEO, I could now care less about drug use. My job was to uphold the law. I've said numerous times that pot, though illegal federally, to me, was harmless and I have been known to look the other way. It was my call.

Good for you on your recovery. And thanks for your long time service as well as your evident measure of common sense. I myself have been looking the other way for a long time; I considered it my calling, plus "I feel like I owe it to someone." (that's a line from the old Crosby, Stills, and Nash song "Almost Cut my Hair")

Ditto.

A McDonald’s worker paid for a mother’s meal after she forgot her purse, so she paid him back in a big way

... When Reed told the cashier, whom she identified as Wyatt Jones, that she would come back to the fast food chain to pay for the meal, Jones reportedly told her not to worry about it....

“With the emotions of the moment, I just about cried, to be honest, but Wyatt was so incredibly kind,” she said. “He didn’t skip a beat at all. He pulled his wallet out like [it was] no big deal.”

Reed wrote on Facebook that she eventually convinced Jones to let her pay him back — but not without a little bit of persistence. After learning that the cashier was saving up to buy a car, she decided to go the extra mile by creating a GoFundMe for him. As of Oct. 7, she has raised nearly $35,000 from more than 2,000 donors....

Thanks guys. Much appreciated. Just tested negative yesterday, but still have some lingering effects. My get-up-and-go got up and went; still coughing a bunch, but I contribute that to ol' King Edward; now the damn things smell like burning hair; what little I can smell right now. What I'd give for a big, thick, juicy, home cooked, greasy cheeseburger! (that I can taste!)

I don't really know where, but I'm certain as to how. I wear a mask anytime I'm out of my home/vehicle, but it dawned on me that after taking it off, I wasn't attentive to which side I originally had to my face when I put it back on. So I washed all my best masks, and discarded my old ones in the nearest Walmart parking lot :D  (not really) Laying all my masks out, I took a magic marker and placed a small dot on the inside seam; ensuring that I would always wear the same side to my face.

Bon Jovi fan breaks out dancing at a Celtics game

 I love how he includes so many others in his dance.
He prepared for this moment for his whole life. You could tell. He was ready.
Dude went home with the blonde in the white shirt. They're married and have 12 kids. Bon Jovi performed at their wedding. The American dream!
this guy can save 2020. protect him at all costs.
Me talking to my grandchildren: You see? This is how life was before coronavirus
You know those movie scenes where the guy starts dancing and everyone stops and watches? He did that in real life.
Not one phone out recording. Everyone just enjoying the moment.
the man who pushed him away at the end should have been escorted out of the building.
Love how his mom (?) at 0:11 taps him like she knew he would start jamming out. Like "son, it's your time to shine"
I love the fact the fat dude in the Nike shirt doesn’t want to ‘just do it’
Don’t wear the shirt if you can’t back it up

Man Shelters 300 Dogs From Hurricane Delta In (Yucatan) Mexico Home

... There were plenty of other critters too: Dozens of cats were harbored in his sons room; his daughters room served as a refuge for chicks, bunnies and even a hedgehog; a patio became a haven for a flock of sheep.

Not surprisingly, the house smelled terrible, he says. But it was worth it: All survived the storm.

It doesn’t matter if the house is dirty, it can be cleaned, he says. The things they broke can be fixed or bought again, but whats beautiful is to see them happy, healthy and safe, without wounds and with the possibility of being adopted....

On a recent day, Clarita, a friendly, long-horned cow who loves to be petted by visitors, roamed inside a corral where a sign read: Leave footprints of kindness for others to follow. Workers had been repairing hurricane damage to an enclosure where goats Pepito and Elvis live with Morfeo, a bull saved from the slaughterhouse. They became his friends, Pimentel said....

There's some dispute over her story, but so far no proof that she or her family are lying. We'll see . . . or not.

Huge whale's tail sculpture saves Dutch metro train from plummeting into water below

Image

This really was a fluke.

The driver of a metro train escaped injury when the front carriage rammed through the end of an elevated section of rails and was caught by a sculpture of a whale's tail near the Dutch port city of Rotterdam....

Image

... The company that operates the metro line said the driver was uninjured and there were no passengers on the train when it crashed through stop barriers at the end of the station in the town of Spijkenisse, on the southern edge of Rotterdam, early Monday morning.

The station is the final stop on the metro line.

Dolly Parton has asked the TN state legislature not to erect a statue of her at the Capitol. The local tv news had a story about it this morning. She also refused the Presidential Medal of Freedom a few months ago. I'm not exactly one of her music fans, but she's definitely a class act, which is rare in TN. Dolly has a tourist place (Dollywood) in Pigeon Forge TN (where they forge those pigeons).

LOL.

This dude on instagram has now raised 1.1 million for planned parenthood in the memory of Rush Limbaugh.

"If Rush was so pro life, then when did he posthumously raise 1.1 million for planned parenthood?"
