I like the 20s, so I'll start with Frankie.
Interesting characters in the first 5 minutes.

For a light fiction show, it is very period-correct. "Mary" the "morality officer", for example. There really was such a thing in Toronto then, and it was in fact the only job women could get in the police force. Also, you may remember "Frankie" from CSI a few years ago.

I wish they'd bring back those old test patterns you'd see after the station went off the air. Those things had all kinds of circles and lines and other visual nuance. I always wondered if tv repairmen back then only worked at night when the test patterns were on so they could calibrate those old televisions and whether their drinking made their efforts useless.

SNL trashed Cruz and to a lesser extent Gov Cuomo last night, beginning with the cold open and running at least through Weekend Update. Good.

Pete Davidson talked about watching the Britney Spears doc, which I caught bits of (well done), with his mom. He marveled at how he's crazier than Britney, but his mom has not taken over his money and life like Britney's dad has . . . yet.

I guess Bridgerton "is the most-watched original series launch to date on" Netflix. I don't think that softcore porn and a racially integrated alternate history would be enough to get me to watch a 19th century British aristocracy costume drama soap opera.

Yes, it's very good once you get to know the characters. It's a re-make of the original series, but everything is true to the stories and characters....

Well, that was a brilliant tearjerker of a bloody Xmas series finale!

Debuts in April. I have no idea if it will be any good, but I noticed that it features 67 year old Katey Sagal in the title role. Other than Marcy, the entire Married... with Children cast has had a good subsequent career, with Peggy, Al and Kelly really killing it. Good for them.
