Roberta Jacobson, President Biden's top official for border issues who has been grappling with large increases of migrants attempting to cross into the U.S., will step down at month's end after 100 days on the job, the White House announced Friday.
Ut-oh.
Jacobson, a highly regarded former U.S. ambassador to Mexico and career diplomat, said in an interview that she had always intended to serve as the National Security Council's coordinator for the U.S. southern border for that length of time and believes she can leave as the Biden administration has built up teams to work on the immigration issue, including root causes in the home countries of many migrants....
Anyone believe that 100 days was the goal?

Never in hell. Obviously this is either the result of some high level disagreements or else the ambassador proved to be incompetent in a real world functional capacity. Being an ambassador is like being a bird in a cage who just sings the song sent by Washington. Many ambassadors can't seem to get any traction out where the rubber meets the road. Tough.
President Joe Biden on Friday fired the commissioner of Social Security after the official refused to resign, and Biden accepted the deputy commissioner's resignation, the White House said.
Biden asked commissioner Andrew Saul to resign, and his employment was terminated after he refused the Democratic president's request, a White House official said.
Deputy Commissioner David Black agreed to resign, said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss personnel matters.
Both officials had been put in place under President Donald Trump, a Republican....
The labor union that represents Social Security employees also welcomed the firings.
Ralph de Juliis, spokesperson for the American Federation of Government Employees SSA General Committee and Council 220 President, said employee morale and agency operations had suffered under Saul and Black's leadership.
“President Biden made the right call to send these Trump appointees packing,” de Juliis said.
By this point in the Trump admin* quite a few Trump-appointed personnel had been fired or quit, some under a cloud of criminal allegations.
Apparently the fired SS administrator, Saul, claims he'll be logging in from home on Monday as usual.
I hope they can prevent that.
As an SS recipient I have seen a few things that are worrisome. Hopefully this will rectify the situation.
The next one that needs to go is USPS head DeJoy. That may be more difficult, because it's not Biden's call. It's up to the USPS board of directors, but while the Dems have a majority now, one of them was a Trump appointee who says he supports keeping DeJoy.
When it comes to running the government agencies, Trump has been even worse than Nixon or Reagan.
