Sadly it's not always quick. Jonathan Penner's (from Survivor) wife had it and it was fairly long and brutal. Remember Yul on Winner's at War dedicated his game and winnings to her.

ALS, CTE and concussion related dementia. Gale Sayers just died with severe dementia and was not mentioned. You at the list of former players suing the league for head trauma. It's huge.

If Da Bears moved to Arlington Heights, they wouldn't be the first team to be outside their nominal city. We've got/had the Landover Redskins, the New Jersey Giants, the Arlington Cowboys, the Inglewood Chargers and Rams (formerly the Anaheim Rams), the Miami Gardens Dolphins, etc. But none of them played in the truly legendary Soldier Field. Somebody ought to do something. T'ain't right.

Re: NFL Football
I've always been a traditionalist on this kind of stuff and Soldier Field makes for a beautiful arieal shot on national tv but I think I may be waffling. Soldier Field isn't a 97 year old facility, they dropped a spaceship in the old colonnades in 2002 and to be honest it looks silly from the outside. It's a cool design and facility but the place has problems. It's the smallest stadium in the NFL and access is miserable. There's no real public transportation, no parking and what parking there is is not close and mostly underground making for a no tailgate experience and hours to get out of there as a good majority of fans come from the burbs for the unaffordable NFL experience.Vrede too wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 12:41 amIs any other team playing in a 97-year-old building?O Really wrote: ↑Thu Jun 17, 2021 11:01 pmIf Da Bears moved to Arlington Heights, they wouldn't be the first team to be outside their nominal city. That said, Arlington Heights is actually a pretty good campus with good access but not centrally located for fans south of the city. There's so many hurdles (huge $$$$ the Mccaskey's don't have) I don't think it's gonna happen, a bid is not a contract and certainly not a purchase. The whole thing is probably a leverage ploy to renegotiate the lease and improve a stadium that is already antiquated by NFL standards.
Also, Da Bears have only been playing in Soldier Field since the 70's. Most of their history is actually in Wrigley.

Shows how much I know. I took "97-year-old building" straight from the Chicago Sun-Times article. What is the pic of and what is your ideal solution . . . including QB.GoCubsGo wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 6:58 amI've always been a traditionalist on this kind of stuff and Soldier Field makes for a beautiful areal shot on national tv but I think I may be waffling. Re: NFL Football
That's "historic " Soldier Field. Better overview here.

It's a gorgeous setting. I rode the lakefront last weekend, there's 15 miles of trails up and down (as an aside, with the legalization of weed, the whole damn lakefront smelled like a giant skunk). I'm okay with an Arlington Heights dome. As O Really pointed out most NFL stadiums aren't located in the city proper these days anyways. On the very off chance if I were to go to a game it would be convenient for me and I've sat outside in "Bear Weather" (myth) and had my beer freeze solid.
No thanks, I'll take a dome.
Besides, let's face it, the NFL is a TV sport anyways, best watched on the flat screen at home.
Then, we'll find a way to screw him up, I'm pretty confident about that.

Yeah, well, "since the 70's" is still a long time.
Anyway, when the Packers move out of Lambeau for some additional bells and whistles and a few more parking spaces in Appleton, I'll give up on there being any semblance of tradition at all.

Re: NFL Football
With the exceptions of Lambeau, Wrigley and Fenway (all have been remodeled/upgrades) I can't think of another historic type of professional stadium still in use. When they tear down the house that Ruth built nothing's sacred.
Kansas City?
Oakland Coliseum?
