Legend of the Red Dragon

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Legend of the Red Dragon

If that name means anything to anyone, you're going to love this: http://www.blueridgedebate.com/lotgd/

Probably too obscure for most though.

It does now since Bannination corrected it's structure. It didn't work as originally posted in my copied quote above.

Yeah, same here, Vrede, the link worked the first time I checked it. Also, dunno why Doo Hickey had an issue.

Even so, I've never played a video game in my life ... don't plan to start now.

Still, I do understand such is quite popular as I get requests everyday from friends on Facebook wanting me to join in the games they play.

If either of you had clicked onto the way the link was originally posted ( blueridgedebate.com/lotgd/ ),
you would not have been able to link into it.

I tried Monday @ 1:19 pm. Vrede, Monday @ 2:30pm; and mike,Tuesday @8:35pm.
Banni corrected the link structure Monday @ 2:14pm. Does that tell you anything?

Anyway, it's a moot point. Whatever color the dragon is/was doesn't do a thing for me. Glad you two got a thrill out of it.

My reply date is when I replied to the thread. I copied and pasted the link the day Banni posted it and I didn't have an issue.

As I mentioned, since I don't play on-line games (or any video games), I did not feel the need to reply until you mentioned you had an issue with the original link.

Does that tell you anything? Image

Not that the argument is worth a fart in a whirlwind, but Banni's original post of the 'link' was in black print, not blue. After I clicked on it and it came up empty, I copied and pasted the 'link' in the browser bar and it came up empty as well.

If the link worked, why did Banni correct it to read as it does now?

If you and Mike accessed it, ya-hoo for you, idiot. Gay mountain goats and fake christians do have special powers you know.

Vrede wrote:It may have been black print, I can't recall. If so, I copied and pasted and got the same page I get now. You have 2 choices:

1) Imagine we're lying and/or have "special powers", which is stupid.
2) Consider that it's some quirk in your computer, browser, or settings.

Not that it matters, having gotten so childish about it there's not much redemption you can swing now.
Well, yeah you did get rather childish, but that is to be expected. Maybe I did have a quirk; and I do recognize your
"special powers" of stupid. Thanks for cluing me in. Now run along and play in the traffic.

I clicked on it the day bannination posted it -- Saturday. It worked when I clicked on it. Wasn't interested. Didn't post anything. The only Red Dragon I know is Thomas Harris's Red Dragon. Good book. Better than Silence of the Lamb any day.

Believe it or not, this game was all the rage back in the early nineties in Hendersonville back when BBS's were popular and the internet hadn't taken over. So many people fought over the marriage rights over the local honeys!

Let's see...

Alphatech BBS
Digital Playgrounds BBS
The Alliance BBS
Awww shoot, can't remember the name of the BBS that was run by the guy that owned the computer business on Church street, but his was great too.

I remember hearing about one online game in the late eighties -- I didn't play, but friends did -- that sounded like a space version of RISK. Some of my friends would stay up until two or three in the morning just to be able to log on and play the game. Apparently, what passed for servers in those days wouldn't handle much traffic.

Trade Wars! I never got into it, but it was a popular one. The limiting factor back then wasn't "server capacity" rather, phone lines (1 phone line, 1 player at a time, 2, 2, etc.. They were hobbies, and certainly didn't make money, so basically we were donating $30 a month for the enjoyment of others, and ourselves. I guess some of us never changed!

The Alliance was the biggest around here with a whopping 4 phone lines!

Just FYI for those that aren't playing, it may look complicated at first, but it's really not. It takes about 10 minutes to play per day once you get the idea of what you're doing, maybe less.
