Yeah, we're not counting on the border opening exactly on the 15th, but we are getting reservations for late August/September. Well see.

We've already got a stay scheduled in Anacortes, WA, and we like Fort Steele, BC, so if the border does open we're considering taking the Canada 3 (Crowsnest Highway) across BC. The Crowsnest Pass, at 4,200ish feet is less than half what we've already run into during this trip, but the whole way through BC is pretty hilly and it majorly violates our two-lane/160km rule. Might not work out, but it's on the table.

Yes, but with strings attached. The current rules for Canadian citizens are that if you're fully vaccinated, the quarantine requirement is waived, but you still have to provide a negative test taken within 72 hours prior to entry. That requirement will also apply to Americans. Also, the border guards can randomly (arbitrarily) require travelers to take a molecule(?) test as well. And - even if you're vaxxed and tested, you still have to show a "quarantine plan" just in case something goes wrong. No Canada for us this year. Maybe next.

We've only been boarded once, and that was several years ago and in a different rig - and crossing from Buffalo. Cheery wave-throughs in Quebec, Alberta, and BC. I have a border-pack that has our passport cards, list of stuff we're not bringing in, vehicle registration/insurance. Generally everything but the passport gets at best a cursory glance. Of course, I'd have the same pack if I had a coach stuffed full of escaped Berzerkerstanis, lawyers, guns, and money, but we do look pretty harmless. Generally more time to get back into the US than to get into Canada.

Your proposed quarantine plan likely would be acceptable.

Good lord peeps. I've been covid tested four times. At least one of those was required by a doc before she would agree to take a look. All tests negative. All tests were free of charge (to me, a least). I believe they all were of the PCR type (what now is called one of the "molecular" tests. Weird term, I guess to mollify the unscientific). These days such tests are a lot harder to find. Probably one can buy a home test kit at the local CVS.

Not without treatment although it appears very clean and pristine thanks to the invasion of Zebra Mussels.

Fun facts, Lake Superior holds 10% of the world's surface fresh water and if you emptied it you could cover North and South America with two feet of water.

But, would boiling the water be enough to make it safe? Or does it have toxins from industrial and other discharges as well that would need something like charcoal filtering.

Of course, the previous is from a recreational business, so perhaps a grain of salt is needed. Most cities and towns appear to treat their water in some fashion.
