Re: COVIDiots
A couple of days ago I got in my email Diana Harshbarger's latest "newsletter." It's always filled with fascist nonsense, lies, and bullshit. One of her whines was about "vaccine passports" and how it's "government overreach." She is totally against them. I finally got on her website this morning and told her in the most direct ways possible that the vaccine mandates that have been promulgated are mostly by private companies and asked her if it isn't government overreach in telling those private companies that they can't issue vaccine mandates. Then I asked her to please clarify if she is for or against government overreach. One of her other whines was that "It's the People's House, not Nancy Pelosi's" and she went on to whine that Nancy issued a mask mandate for the House. On this I called her a liar and informed her that the Capitol Attending Physician, Dr. Brain Monahan, is the person who issued the mandate. I suppose Nancy announced it to the members, I explained to her. I then went on to ask her to please stop lying or resign. I also urged her to not get the vaccine.

Fuck off, Diana. Near universal vaccine mandates are coming, even if the feds limit theirs to fed workers, the military and public transport.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 12:10 pmA couple of days ago I got in my email Diana Harshbarger's latest "newsletter." New Texas school COVID-19 guidelines rattle medical experts
The new guidelines state that schools don't have to inform parents of positive cases; schools do not have to contact trace; and parents can choose to send a student to school if he or she has been in close contact with a positive case, among other updates.

Yeah, ain't it great that my congressional representative is married to a guy who scammed Medicare/Medicaid big time and on top of that sent American money to the Chinese Communists for illicit drugs. Christ in a decrepit canoe, normal folks that do that get decades in prison. But, hell, I've brought all this up before with her. She never calls even though I have specifically requested it more than a few times. She's koi, as well as generally coup coup. She needs to resign or just stay home and buy Chinese Communist drugs. If she addresses my comment about this I plan to ask her if she can get me some good shit. And then call her "baby." Just for the hell of it. Maybe count coup.Vrede too wrote: ↑Sat Aug 07, 2021 4:38 pmIck. Re: COVIDiots
I'm glad I've got y'all for a release. Maybe it helps keep me from shouting at COVIDiots in the street. If I was still working, and hadn't been killed, I'd be constantly biting my tongue.

The vaccinated are angry. That's understandable but also unproductive, health experts say.
... "It’s not a pandemic of ignorance," quipped the Santa Monica Daily Press in an editorial about Los Angeles County's spike in cases and hospitalizations. "This is a surge of straight stupidity."

We've got lots more than that just in this thread.High levels of infections in unvaccinated people increase the risk to everyone, and headline after headline has documented the ensuing rage of the vaccinated. Unvaccinated Americans have been called "arrogant," "selfish" "stupid," "idiots" and worse for refusing to get the jab.
Experts aren't very much fun.Public health experts told USA TODAY that anger is understandable, widespread and unproductive. They even worry that shaming and blaming the unvaccinated could backfire — entrenching their decision rather than persuading them to get the shots.
The only way to end the death and suffering of COVID in the U.S. is to get millions of Americans vaccinated. Mandates may help. But insults, anger and dismissiveness are widely considered a terrible way to convince people to get vaccinated.
"If you’re going to call me an idiot … that isn’t encouragement,” Stephanie McClure, an assistant professor of biocultural medical anthropology at the University of Alabama, told USA TODAY. “You usually don’t get anywhere by attacking people.” ...

Well, sure, being angry at the non-vaxxed isn't productive, and calling them idiots, even though accurate, isn't going to change their minds. But the author didn't say what would be productive. At this point, I don't care about changing minds or reducing ignorance or stupidity. I just want to get them vaxxed or dead. Restricting the un-vaxxed to the limits of their own house or cave works for me.

We've been doing all of that for 8 months. I also lean towards mandates, shaming and shunning.... While some unvaccinated Americans are actively anti-vaccine, many of those who haven't gotten the shot are held back by a number of factors that can still be addressed, Dr. Ashish Jha, dean of Brown University's School of Public Health, told USA TODAY.
McClure has written that the term "vaccine hesitancy" can lump together the complex reasons some people have not yet gotten vaccinated. She said many are afraid, misinformed or mistrustful of authorities.
McClure's conversations with unvaccinated people have revealed some have misperceptions that can be corrected – if only someone takes the time to listen. Some unvaccinated people fear side effects; others fear breakthrough infections; others struggle with health care literacy.
African Americans have been disproportionally affected by the pandemic, and know the U.S. health care system does not treat them equally, McClure said. That fuels fear and mistrust, and insults are "not going to motivate you to think differently."
... Tsipursky prefers positive language: vaccinated people are doing their civic duty; they're patriots; they're protecting their families....

I know some people have honest mis-conceptions or doubts. Like poor experience with flu shots, or fear of short-term reaction, etc. Or thinking there's plenty of time and will "get around to it eventually" or whatever. But get the politics out of it, and pretty much everybody would get a shot if it's socially expected, and mandated as needed. And for those whose reason is politically related out of paronoidal distrust of the damgummint or fear of Bill Gates, just don't let them out in public.

Just read an article that Novavax's new peptide based (?) vaccine (still pending EUA in the USA) is significantly safer and just as effective as the mRNA vaccines from Pfizer and Moderna. Probably it's cheaper to produce as well.

It's probably just some sort of Chinese synthetic heroin that they peddle to folks like you and the husband of my congressional representative. I'd advise you to stay away from it. Stomp it if at all possible. Pretend it's a neoplacenta or a neoplastica marital device. Run.
