California Recall

Unread post by O Really »

What a bunch of clowns signed up to run for Governor. Well, probably not all of them are real clowns, and some of them might not actually kick kittens, but apparently nobody thought it necessary or desirable to have any political experience. Except former (not very good) San Diego mayor Faulkener, who's buried way down the list and his experience as mayor isn't shown.

I would've attached the sample ballot pdf, but it was rejected as "file too large"

So as I understand it, when voting on the recall voters get two questions.

1. Do you want to recall Yes/No

2. Choose your preferred candidate (amongst 40 or so running).

If 50% +1 choose to recall then the candidate with the most votes wins. All voters vote for their preferred candidate whether they voted for or against the recall.

Polls are showing an even split on the recall issue.

So how does Newsome not win when roughly 50% of the state doesn't want to recall him to begin with and most will probably vote to retain him and the other 39 candidates are splitting the balance of votes?
Eamus Catuli~AC 000000 000101 010202 020303 010304 020405....Ahhhh, forget it, it's gonna be a while.

Newsome isn't on the "replacement" list. If the vote goes against him, then he's lost and we get one of the cast of thousands. Current leader is the YouTube millionaire. Some on the list won't get any votes except their own and maybe their mother's. If he wins the first vote (no on recall), then he stays in office and the guv wannabes don't get counted - or at least the count wouldn't count.

Of course I'm voting No on the recall.

If there are that many names on the ballot, it will be a real joke.

California needs to clean up its recall process, that's for sure.

The leading "Dem", Pfrafth, is a German born millionaire (only about 5 million, though) who seems rather conservative on a number of key issues, primarily economic.

The biggest joke on that list is Kaitlyn Jennings. Boy she ugly. Boy. LOL.

I read the petition.

What it showed me is that Amanda needs to go back to school and learn how to spell and write well.

It's "statistics" and not "statics".

In the phrase, "Quarantine’s do not equate to positive tests...", the use of the possessive apostrophe is incorrect....
Mirror. Do you need "to go back to school"?

Yes, but mine's the random way they appear on the ballot. Yours would be too helpful. I think you may be taking poetic licence with the term "qualified" though.

In case you're not just making a joke, "Qualified candidates" is the Wiki and I presume state description, not mine. I only went so far as "some" political experience.

Sure, t'was said with tongue firmly in cheek, but sadly the state's definition of "qualified' pretty much lets in anybody who hasn't yet got caught bribing, embezzling, or exhorting, or even if they did get caught as long as the didn't get convicted, they're good to go.

What Is Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder?
Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a disorder in which people have recurring, unwanted thoughts, ideas or sensations (obsessions) that make them feel driven to do something repetitively (compulsions). The repetitive behaviors, such as hand washing, checking on things or cleaning, can significantly interfere with a person’s daily activities and social interactions.

Many people without OCD have distressing thoughts or repetitive behaviors. However, these thoughts and behaviors do not typically disrupt daily life. For people with OCD, thoughts are persistent, and behaviors are rigid. Not performing the behaviors commonly causes great distress. Many people with OCD know or suspect their obsessions are not realistic; others may think they could be true (known as limited insight). Even if they know their obsessions are not realistic, people with OCD have difficulty disengaging from the obsessive thoughts or stopping the compulsive actions.

A diagnosis of OCD requires the presence of obsessions and/or compulsions that are time-consuming (more than one hour a day), cause significant distress, and impair work or social functioning. OCD affects 2-3% of people in the United States, and among adults, slightly more women than men are affected. OCD often begins in childhood, adolescence, or early adulthood; the average age symptoms appear is 19 years old.

...

Obsessions are recurrent and persistent thoughts, impulses, or images that cause distressing emotions such as anxiety or disgust. Many people with OCD recognize that the thoughts, impulses, or images are a product of their mind and are excessive or unreasonable. However, the distress caused by these intrusive thoughts cannot be resolved by logic or reasoning. Most people with OCD try to ease the distress of the obsessions with compulsions, ignore or suppress the obsessions, or distract themselves with other activities.
