COVIDiots

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Predictable. Idk what businesses and authorities can do other than huge penalties like Canada's for the few that are caught.

Cardinal Who Expressed Skepticism About Vaccines Has COVID-19, Is On Ventilator

A conservative former archbishop of St. Louis who has spread unfounded theories about COVID-19 vaccines has been hospitalized with the disease and placed on a ventilator, according to his official Twitter account....

Burke has also referenced conspiracy theories about vaccines: one about microchips and another that claimed the vaccines were created using aborted fetal cells.

He has repeated false claims suggesting vaccines may inject microchips that allow recipients to “be controlled by the State regarding health and about other matters which we can only imagine” and also said that “it is never morally justified to develop a vaccine through the use of the cell lines of aborted fetuses.”

Burke, a staunch conservative, has publicly criticized Pope Francis on social issues such as homosexuality and abortion.

After serving as archbishop of St. Louis from 2003 to 2008, Burke went on to the Vatican to become a member of the Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura. After a number of high-profile clashes with Burke, Pope Francis demoted him in 2014.

Pickens County parents protest, start petition against district's virtual learning decision

The Change.org petition, which had more than 4,000 signatures as of Monday morning, calls for South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster to stop the district from going virtual.

The district decided to go virtual this week after announcing 634 students are in quarantine. One-hundred sixty-three students this school year tested positive for COVID-19, according to district officials.

The highest number of COVID-19 positive students at one time throughout all of last school year was 85, which was back on Jan. 7, 2021, according to the district.

What are the stated reasons for the parents wanting to expose their kids to probable covid infection?

Is the county named after Slim Pickens?

This is the first instance I can recall of an institute of "higher learning " being willful Covidiots.

I read the petition.

What it showed me is that Amanda needs to go back to school and learn how to spell and write well.

It's "statistics" and not "statics".

In the phrase, "Quarantine’s do not equate to positive tests...", the use of the possessive apostrophe is incorrect.

Lastly, unstated in the petition is the probably strong reason for opposing virtual learning: it requires at least one parent or other responsible adult to stay home and supervise the child. This could interfere with any number of non-essential activities: bridge parties, coffee clatches, shopping trips, daytime naps, even (heaven forbid) extramarital affairs.

Unstated is the risk to the teachers from infected children spreading the virus in the class room.

Also unstated is an easy resolution: mandatory vaccination for all students, teachers, and parents.

The pandemic is blowing up again in southern states where there's tons of vaccine hesitancy. These people "did their own research" at the University of Facebook. And by do their own research, I mean they browsed memes that reinforced their already made up minds.

I'm no saint when it comes to grammar, but you can tell just how stupid these people are by the treasure trove of grammatical and spelling errors in a simple petition.

People are so cynical and unaware of their own ignorance thanks to Facebook that they'd rather trust a meme shared by uncle Fred that believes he was abducted by the greys thirty years ago than epidemiologists who've spent their entire lives studying infectious diseases.

But ok, I do understand some issues that arise with virtual learning. What if both parents need to work and don't have relatives that can help watch younger children? I get it.

McMaster outlawed mask mandates in the classroom as well to score some points.

It's 'klatsch', since you mention spelling. Does that mean that you need "to go back to school"?

shopping trips, daytime naps, even (heaven forbid) extramarital affairs.

Or second jobs in low income households, as Whack9 says, or sole job for single parents. I don't oppose virtual learning, but its impacts are not all frivolous.

"easy"? There is no vaccine for children under 12 yet.

What really tells me how stupid they are is when on an education-related petition they don't have someone competent proofread it before putting it out there. They're advertising their ignorance and laziness, thus making it easy to dismiss them.

They get a smidgen of credit for wanting their children to get the education they obviously lack.

You beat me to it. I was going to state that a lot of these parents actually want their children to be as dumb as they are. And most of them will be.

They set up a situation in which there can be no satisfactory resolution, thus they win by continuing to aggrieved and victimized by the damgummint. They don't want masks/distancing; they don't want vaccines; they don't want virtual. Their only acceptable solution is to pretend covid doesn't exist. Failing that, they can happily go back to whining about their loss of freedom.

16-year-old South Carolina student dies from Covid-19 complications as school district struggles with infections

https://www.cnn.com/2021/08/16/us/lanca ... index.html
"We are starting school with classes being taught by substitute teachers, administrators are stretched for supervision, buses are doing double routes, maintenance workers are working over(time) to cover those out and we canceled last week's preseason football game at one of our high schools due to eight positive cases with our players," Phipps said.

Phipps highlighted the "tremendous amount of political pressure" from Gov. Henry McMaster for schools to continue in-person learning. McMaster signed an executive order on May 11 that restricted school districts from mandating masks for students.
McMaster: Your family potentially getting Ill and dying is a risk I'm willing to take to earn that sweet sweet political clout.

Just giving you a taste of your own OCD treatment: "Nya Nya, I beat you to it". That's your favorite ploy.

And now you're whining about it too.

I link when ANYONE has posted on a topic first, mostly for informational purposes and usually saying, "Great minds ..." I also step up if I discover that someone beat me to it. Pay attention.

This is not a case of who was first, moron. As I just said, both Whack9 and I were adding discussion to YOUR post. It's hilarious that you are so butthurt and obsessed that you post whiny nonsense even when I've acknowledged what you first posted.

Poor illiterate baby.

Also, you're welcome for this:
