You can't see them but on that line above I've written, in Roman numerals, the numbers from one to one hundred. You'll never beat that.
You win!
No offense to neo, but my vote goes to Robert. Not only did he invent the equals sign and the word zenzizenzizenzike, in his "1557 work The Whetstone of Witte" he actually invented the definition that it "doeth represent the square of squares squaredly".
Go Robert, Go Robert
Trump: “We had the safest border in the history of our country - or at least recorded history. I guess maybe a thousand years ago it was even better.”

No offense taken. It took me about fourteen hours to type those little numerals. I had to use toothpicks on the little keyboard. Plus having to deal with the goddamn light speed meth typing cat. That lunatic would wreck my setup. I ended up lashing it to a drain pipe.

Well, I could have beaten it to death and had it evacuate its bowels all over me in the process. I decided against it. Lashed it to the S pipe and as far as I know it's still squirming around in there but no longer makes noise. Probably dehydrated, sandpaper tongue, etc.

You don't fool me.
I'm sure the dear little kitty is snuggled in your lap at this very moment, purring like it's going out of style.

Is "drain pipe" the same as finishing a bowl or changing bong water?
I don't think that 14 is any big deal there for August.
"I" is a pretty big deal for late Aug/ early Sept here.
05 had Katrina in August and Rota in September.
The Eastern Pacific season is 2 weeks longer, beginning May 15. Both end November 30.
Both peak from late August through September.
The North Atlantic averages 14.4 (N) tropical cyclones annually.
The Eastern Pacific averages 16.6 (R, there is no Q in either basin). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tropical_ ... nd_records
Can they retire Aug 29 like they do hurricane names?
Not that it will compare with the potential LA tragedy, but neoplacebo, Whack9 and I will get hit with TD Ida after getting soaked by Fred just a couple of weeks ago. https://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/ ... ricane-ida

Lot of people around Ulysses/O Reallyland that could use some of that water to get rid of the fires. Also to dump a bit on the 25% of agricultural fields that aren't getting planted this year because of limited water, as well as the dried up lawns that are euphemistically referred to as "going gold." The extremes are getting extremer all the time.
Well, thanks, but I don't need any imported water for my lawn. That's because this property has a well concealed well. The well water is not supposed to be potable, but I had it checked out and they said it was OK for grass and veggies. I used city water for drinking and the rest.
Like you say, what California really needs is some rain to put out these damn forest fire. But, I understand, Greece and other southern European countries are also experiencing severe drought.
One of the candidates in the governor recall election is proposing that we run a pipeline from the Mississippi to California. But he hasn't provided any details. I imagine that would be extremely expensive to build and pump. OTOH, if this warming and severe drought keeps up, California is fucked.
The 2:00:00 PM EDT sat pic is now up (the times I posted above were CDT). Ida is now a Cat 2, the eye wall is well defined, and landfall tomorrow evening has been downgraded to a Cat 3. The 29-30 night will be a long one.
