Since we have his badge number we should call and say how great of a job he did.

I sent in a very genuine compliment regarding him on their website form and got a personal response 30 minutes later thanking me and saying the message would be passed on to him and his supervisor as well.

I really appreciate the way he handled this, especially as a CJ student, because it seems hard to regularly find examples of people who maintain good natured despite being berated. I mentioned in my compliment how the woman in the video said officers used to be officers of the peace, but I believe he demonstrated being a current officer of the peace very well in that instance.

Good job to him on the level-headedness! While officers are trained to be that way, it's still not easy to take public abuse.

A woman has been accused of using a fake vaccination card that misspelled Moderna as 'Maderna' to visit Hawaii, a report says

... A woman from Illinois was arrested in Hawaii on suspicion of submitting a fake vaccination card for a vacation there, according to a report by Hawaii News Now.

Authorities arrested Chloe Mrozak, 24, on Saturday over allegations that she used a fake vaccine card to fly to Hawaii on August 23 and bypass a mandatory 10-day quarantine for unvaccinated visitors, the publication reported....

Mrozak is being held at the Oahu Community Correctional Center accused of falsifying vaccination documents, with bail set at $2,000, Hawaii News Now reported.

Two other tourists from the US mainland were arrested in Honolulu in mid-August on suspicion of using fake vaccination cards to travel to the state, officials said.

The Hawaii attorney general's office previously told Insider that penalties for falsifying vaccination cards included a fine of up $5,000 and up to a year in prison.

A Chicago pharmacist was arrested in mid-August over allegations that he stole Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID-19 vaccine cards from his pharmacy and sold about 125 of them on eBay to unvaccinated buyers for $10 each. In June, a contractor working at a Los Angeles County vaccination center was also charged with stealing more than 500 blank vaccine cards.

... Busch reportedly signed more than 500 exemption forms before the school district's superintendent updated the requirements, telling parents on Tuesday that an acceptable exemption could only be approved by a licensed medical doctor, osteopathic physician or nurse practitioner....

Superintendent Brennan Asplen clarified the requirements for families seeking signatures from health-care providers who can authorize exemptions. He sent a letter to parents emphasizing the importance of complying with the district's mask mandate unless students have legitimate conditions that make wearing a face covering difficult.

"One of the exceptions in the policy is for medical reasons," Asplen said. "So that we can be consistent in our consideration of whether medical reasons warrant individuals to be exempt from the policy and to prevent abuse, as of Wednesday, September 1, 2021, the School Board will only accept the updated medical exception form which is available on the district website for parents and employees." ...

Of course, thousands of people are being hospitalized or dying of COVID every day despite the fact that vaccines are free and widely available. And the vast majority of them are people who refused to get vaccinated only to discover that COVID-19 actually is real and will kill them. There has also been a wave of fringe right wing extremists in recent weeks who publicly advanced lies about both COVID and the vaccine only to get sick and in very many cases die from it.

Suffice to say, public health measures are not actually crimes, and U.S. history has dozens of examples of vaccine mandates, including during the revolutionary war. However, in all U.S. states forgery is a crime.

... Rishi Rambaran, 40, stormed into Principal Diane Vargo's office on Thursday with zip-tie handcuffs, according to a since-removed Instagram video. He and two friends accompanying him claimed the school broke the law when administrative officials told his kid to wear a mask and quarantine after potential exposure to COVID-19.

Rambaran has since been arrested, the Daily Beast reported. "I can tell you the end result of that incident was we did make one arrest for trespassing," said Sgt. Richard Gradillas of the Tucson Police Department, which did not immediately return Insider's request for comment.

Kelly Walker, one of the men who backed up Rambaran, shared a video to Instagram that appeared to show him driving to the school.

"I'm headed to Mesquite Elementary School right now, where a friend just notified me and some others that his son was indiscriminately taken to the office to be quarantined because supposedly someone had decided he but not other kids in this classroom were exposed to COVID," he said.

"And they shoved a mask on his face, wouldn't let him call his parents, and now his dad is there," he continued. "The school is blatantly breaking the law, blatantly going against the will of the people. I think this community has expressed that they're not going to have this kind of bullying of our kids, these kinds of scare tactics."

... Once the three men convened at the school to protest the move, they entered Vargo's office and confronted her, asking her to release the children back into the classroom. Rambaran called the police and asked them to arrest her, the Beast reported. Vargo then asked the three to vacate her office and leave the school building. Neither man complied until Vargo called the police.

Two hours later, the police arrested Rambaran, and Gradillas told the Beast more arrests "could be made." ...
