Frankly the sausage assault was a higher, more intelligent, "criminal mastermind" class of crime than the front page story in the Freep the very day I moved to Winnipeg, a crime story that still defines Winnipeg for me.

Truth be told, there's not much interesting to be found in a Manitoba forum. A sausage attack doesn't generate the same debate as an assault rifle attack. The number of sausages in a package doesn't generate the same debate as the magazine capacity of an AR-15; there's no point at which they're considered "assault sausages." (Well, garlic content might count.)
