Winless Navy beats UCF 34-30. No real or fake trophies this year.

I didn't see the game but I think UCF had a first down at the Navy 15 with a couple of minutes to go. The apparently deserved to lose. Happy day for billy.p.

The Southsl's oldest meets again this Saturday
Some cool facts in this 10 year old article; the series has since flipped the writing in favor of the hated Dawgs

https://syndication.bleacherreport.com/ ... y.amp.html

"The Auburn Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs have played five games in their 114-game history that resulted in 0-0 ties."
I wish I could have seen those. Best I've seen was Auburn over Miss. State 3-2

I loved ties. So much more honest than the overtime.

[billy.pilgrim]

"Auburn-Georgia memories: How it all began in the winter of 1892"
by Phillip Marshall

"On Feb. 20, 1892, at Piedmont Park in downtown Atlanta, Auburn and Georgia played for the first time."

"Thousands came to watch - some in carriages, some in buggies, some on horseback. The teams wore rugby caps and white jackets and trousers trimmed in school colors. Georgia brought along a goat as a mascot."

Years later Georgia coach and Auburn grad said, "A Billy goat might well have become Georgia's official mascot instead of a bulldog, if shortly after the game Sir William hadn't become barbecue."'

They ate their mascot - that's downright cold

"A tradition was born that winter day in Atlanta. Except for 1917, 1918 and 1943, when world wars intervened, Auburn and Georgia have met in football every year since. They will meet again Saturday in the 124th renewal of the series."

TV News: Coastal Carolina is the only ranked team in SC.
Nice. I hope 1 FAT CAN was tuned in.

[Vrede too]

GO:

Maryland (4-1) > 7 @Ohio State (4-1). Yeah, right. Ohio State is favored by 21.
21 @Texas (4-1) > 6 Oklahoma (5-0). Oklahoma is only favored by 3.5.
@Rutgers(3-2) > 11 Michigan State (5-0). Michigan State is favored by 5.
Boise State (2-3) > 10 BYU (5-0). BYU is favored by 6.
18 @Auburn (4-1) > 2 Georgia (5-0). Georgia is favored by 15.5. Ouch.
@Syracuse (3-2) > 19 Wake Forest (5-0?!). Wake Forest is favored by 6.
3 @Iowa (5-0) > 4 Penn State (5-0). Best game of the day. Iowa is favored by 1.5. I'm finally rooting for a (barely) favorite, but maybe I'll be too depressed at this point to still be watching any games. ;)
@Texas A&M (3-2) > 1 Alabama (5-0). Alabama is favored by 17.5!
25 @San Diego State (4-0) > New Mexico (2-3). Go O Really, but who would have guessed that your team would have the 2nd most lopsided spread in the top 25, 19.5? San Diego State is only the 2nd favorite that I want to win. It's not looking to be a good day.

Non-top 25:
West Virginia > @Baylor. Baylor is favored by 2.5.
@North Carolina > Florida State. Could be a double win for me. North Carolina is favored by 17!
@USC > Utah. USC is favored by 3.

6 @Montana (3-1) plays Utah's Dixie State (0-4). It could win and still drop in the polls. :problem:

[billy.pilgrim]

We're gonna have to be even luckier than we were the last 2 weeks.

I'll take another Prayer at Jordan Harr (or two) for the win.

[O Really]

@North Carolina > Florida State. Could be a double win for me. North Carolina is favored by 17!

Ut oh. Sense of forthcoming doom here.

[billy.pilgrim]

That would have been a Targeting call against most teams.

3 to 0

[billy.pilgrim]

@North Carolina > Florida State. Could be a double win for me. North Carolina is favored by 17!

Ut oh. Sense of forthcoming doom here.

I see Auburn winning by 3
Or losing by 30

[Vrede too]

@North Carolina > Florida State. Could be a double win for me. North Carolina is favored by 17!

Naa, 'Heels football teams have historically had a hard time managing high expectations.

[billy.pilgrim]

Arkansas and Mississippi was fun
52 to 51
Almost 1,300 yards
51 52 and Arkansas went for the 2 points and the win
They lost

Naa, 'Heels football teams have historically had a hard time managing high expectations.

Whew.

Arkansas and Mississippi was fun
52 to 51
Almost 1,300 yards
51 52 and Arkansas went for the 2 points and the win
They lost

I respect teams that go for the win. #17 > #16 will shake up the polls a little.

TV News: Coastal Carolina is the only ranked team in SC.
Nice. I hope 1 FAT CAN was tuned in.

15 Cstl Carolina 52, Arkansas State 20. Now (6-0).

GO:

Maryland (4-1) > 7 @Ohio State (4-1). Yeah, right. Ohio State is favored by 21.
Ugh. :puke-left:
21 @Texas (4-1) > 6 Oklahoma (5-0). Oklahoma is only favored by 3.5.
Aaarrrggghhh. Texas led by 21 in the 1st, by 18 a few times including late in the 3rd. Oklahoma came back to take the lead at 4th 7:25, Texas forced OT at 4th 1:35. Or not, Oklahoma scored on a 33 yard touchdown run, essentially a walkoff. :angry-banghead:
@Rutgers(3-2) > 11 Michigan State (5-0). Michigan State is favored by 5....
Nope 13-31.

Non-top 25:
West Virginia > @Baylor. Baylor is favored by 2.5.
Ugh. :puke-left:

I'm 0-4.

[billy.pilgrim]

That sucked

[Vrede too]

That sucked

Yup, fuck GA.

GO:

Boise State (2-3) > 10 BYU (5-0). BYU is favored by 6.
Wow. Boise State 26, BYU 17. Buh-bye top 10.
18 @Auburn (4-1) > 2 Georgia (5-0). Georgia is favored by 15.5. Ouch.
Ugh. :puke-left:
@Syracuse (3-2) > 19 Wake Forest (5-0?!). Wake Forest is favored by 6.
Syracuse forced OT late, but Wake Forest remains the only unbeaten team in the ACC. Wake Forest???!!!
3 @Iowa (5-0) > 4 Penn State (5-0). Best game of the day. Iowa is favored by 1.5. I'm finally rooting for a (barely) favorite, but maybe I'll be too depressed at this point to still be watching any games. ;)
Iowa comes back in the 4th to win. It may knock Penn State out of the playoffs.

Non-top 25:
@North Carolina > Florida State. Could be a double win for me. North Carolina is favored by 17!

... 'Heels football teams have historically had a hard time managing high expectations.

Nailed it. :problem:
6 @Montana (3-1) plays Utah's Dixie State (0-4). It could win and still drop in the polls. :problem:
Dixie State 14, #6 Montana 31. Cool, 0-3 at the half made me nervous. #s 2 and 3 both lost.

3-6 on the day, could be worse given all the underdogs I rooted for.

[O Really]

Do I know UNC football, or what?
And the U had to take the week off to keep from losing to somebody else.
And next week they play each other.
Good lord.
