I took some time out to prepare dinner etc.

But when I got back to computer I remembered about the game and by the 7th inning stretch, it's 1-1.

Doesn't matter, he's still flummoxed at hooking up the Roku via the left phalange through the coy pond and uplinked to the DVR via the VHS.

And that costs how much per month?

I split it, so $17.50.

What a shitty way to end a great series.

That should be reviewable.

I changed the channel right away. Was the called strike 3 controversial? Idk, are we going to start reviewing every pitch?

All I saw online was that the last Giant hitter struck out. End of story.

There's always next year. The Giants had a great season, they should be ashamed of nothing. A lot of that is due to their new (for 2021) manager, Gabe Kapler. He transformed that team, and I think he's not done improving them.

And here's a good analysis, albeit from the SF point of view:

A Cody Bellinger single and awful check-swing call end Giants season in 2-1 loss to Dodgers

For eight innings, the San Francisco Giants and Los Angeles Dodgers played to a stand-still.

There was a brief moment in Game 5 of the NLDS when the tide looked like it turned, thanks to a solid Dodgers showing in the sixth inning, which gave them a long-awaited 1-0 lead. But a half-inning later, Darin Ruf responded with a solo shot that reinvigorated the crowd and sliced the LA momentum.

Then Cody Bellinger showed up. And was usurped by a bad ump call that'll be on every sports talk show on Friday.

Bellinger, who's been arguably the Dodgers' worst batter this year, came up clutch when it counted. His ninth-inning single sent home Justin Turner and sent Oracle Park into a daze. San Francisco attempted to mount a bottom-of-the-ninth comeback against 37-year-old Max Scherzer, who was pitching on two days rest, but he got the job done and secured a 2-1 victory.

That win was probably assured regardless of the check-swing call against Wilmer Flores, who'd never recorded a hit against Scherzer before. But boy was that missed call, where Flores clearly didn't swing, an anticlimactic way to wrap up a wildly entertaining series.

It's a brutal, disappointing conclusion to an unexpected, unbelievable Giants season — their best regular-season record ever. San Francisco won 109 games in all, but they couldn't quite achieve victory No. 110.

Can you blame them? The Giants were asked to play against MLB's second-best regular season team, the defending World Series champions, a ball club that was constantly biting at San Francisco's heels until it eventually, finally surpassed its rival up north.

The Giants are done, and the Dodgers advance to take on the Atlanta Braves, who won just 88 regular-season games. It's silly it had to end this way, but it was a drama-filled, magical conclusion all the same. And it seems fair to assume the Giants will be NL contenders for quite a while.

Bad call, BUT at 0 for 17 lifetime vs Scherzer Flores was very likely to be out on a subsequent pitch. It's been said that if you're not good enough to beat the officials you're not good enough.

Probably, but stranger things have surely happened (he was due!).

The game should be decided on the field.

LA is a bigger market than SF. :)

Bottom 2nd, Hou has bases loaded, 2 outs. Look on YT for the catch by BoSox's Hernández.

:happy-cheerleaderkid:

Then, he homers - responsible for a net 3 runs in 2/3 of an inning.

I'm disappointed, of course, but it's not the end of the world. Well, it's the end of the Giants' 2021 World Series chance.

Like I said, and like the article says, the Giants were able to climb out of the basement into the upper echelon of the NLWD this year. Largely because of new management, which management has introduced a more scientific approach to team training. It paid off, and I hope it keeps on paying off next year.

IMHO, SF is an actual city.

LA is more like a conglomeration of oversize suburbs.

Plus, the entire SF Bay Area population is 8 million.

Sure because you've got that nice city in an enclosed space, but SF itself has only about 900,000 population. Los Angeles the city has about 4 million and the county 10 million. But you've also got a lot of national fans of the Dodgers, for some reason.
