So if Rolovitch thought he had WaSU over a barrel, he was badly mistaken. How hard will it be to find a job when you're loudly unvaxed, have embarrassed your last employer, have a losing record, and are an asshole.

Good (entertaining) article about Rolovich..
https://sports.yahoo.com/opinion-no-sym ... 25232.html
"It’s hard to imagine anyone working their entire adult lives to get a head coaching job at a Pac-12 school only to give it up for the right to more easily contract and spread a dangerous virus. But if that’s how Rolovich wants his career to end while antagonizing his employers and embarrassing common sense, he certainly has that option."

Re: COVIDiots
Well, then, good for San Diego County.O Really wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 12:23 amShouldn't be surprising to anyone who has seen any of my posts on the issue. SD County has had a high rate of vaccination since it became available. Despite the occasional group of whiners, and the random rogue business owner, there was always a high rate of mask compliance. I'm sure you could dig some anti-vaxxers out of the corners and some anti-maskers among the whiny mommy crowd, but they don't get any traction.
Meanwhile the SF Bay Area is also doing quite well. Not yet at 80%, although I understand Marin County and SF County/City are close.
Update: just checked:
As of 10-17-21:
Marin County has 97% one dose, and 90% fully vaccinated. Beats San Diego! ! !
San Mateo County comes in second, at 84% fully vaccinated.
San Francisco is currently at 76.5% fully vaccinated. The East Bay county of Alameda comes in at 72%.
Interestingly, the same source lists San Diego County at only 66.5% fully vaccinated.
Perhaps one of our Frisco haters can explain this disparity?

First, how can anyone besides O Really know what source O Really is using?
Then, maybe I missed it, but I haven't noticed any San Francisco haters posting here. There was your hallucination that we were somehow dissing the San Francisco Bay Area by accurately citing the LA market as being larger, but you ran shrieking away when the stupidity of that was pointed out.

Otoh, only haters and the ignorant ever call it "Frisco".

Re: COVIDiots
Well my source on SD is the SD County health department, that sends out text updates a couple times a week and maintains a real-time dashboard with details down to the zip code level. I don't doubt that SF is approaching 100% - they were doing great from the start in terms of initial response as well as vaxxing. And despite some potholes in Central Valley and northeast of Ulysses, the state overall is now the only state with a "moderate" infestation. Everybody else is higher. Except for the random bug on the windshield that was the trip to the French Laundry, Newsom has done a really good job in doing the right things, even if not always universally popular things. In any rational world, the apparent success of California would be recognized by those still mired in over-run hospitals and they'd say maybe we ought to do something different. But the ones living in poor-response places can't acknowledge California success because to them it's the land of the Evil Pelosi and Shumer, not to mention there may be some gay people and baby-eating Liberals. Idiots.

Re: COVIDiots

Calif. is only state in CDC's third-lowest tier for COVID spread: Where does Bay Area stand?
California was the only U.S. state in the yellow tier Tuesday morning in the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's COVID Data Tracker. The CDC's tracker uses the latest data to report on the severity of the COVID pandemic in each state. The yellow level indicates "moderate" community transmission of the coronavirus with 10 to 50 total new cases per 100,000 people in the past 7 days fall here. Puerto Rico was also in the yellow.
Most other states across the country were in the red tier indicating "high" transmission with more than 100 total new cases per 100,000 in the last week. Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts and Mississippi were all in the orange, signaling "substantial" community transmission.
The CDC's tracker also assigns tier levels to counties in all 50 states, and counties in the Bay Area were generally seeing lower community transmission than the rest of the country. Contra Costa, Napa, San Francisco, Santa Clara, Solano, Sonoma were all in the orange on Tuesday. Alameda, Marin, San Mateo were in the yellow.
Eight counties — all except Solano — in the Bay Area are using the tier levels as one factor in determining whether a county can fully lift its mask mandate. A county must reach the "moderate" (yellow) tier of case rates, as determined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's data tracker, and remain there for three weeks.

Re: COVIDiots
PS-The reporting discrepancy may have to do with how the vac percent is tallied. The higher percentage such as claimed for San Diego may have more to do with counting only those authorized for vaccination, namely 12 and above. The lower percentages may be related to counting the entire population.
No, I don't have a link to share on that. Just guessing.
But I'm sure someone here will have a cow over it.

Why? Paranoia much? That's a perfectly reasonable guess based on the numbers reporting that we've all been seeing, whether your guess is correct or not.Ulysses wrote: ↑Tue Oct 19, 2021 12:24 pmPS-The reporting discrepancy may have to do with how the vac percent is tallied. That appears to be a correct guess.

Ulysses should know better than I, but from what I understand the biggest "Frisco" haters are those who live in their beautiful city by the bay they call "San Francisco."
"Frisco" on the other hand, is a smallish town in north Texas whose main claim to fame seems to be the National Video Game Museum.
There is also a Frisco in the states below, a list that does not include California.
Virginia
Utah
Tennessee
Pennsylvania
Oklahoma
North Carolina
Louisiana
Illinois
Idaho
Colorado
Arkansas

Oh well, as one who spent all of my teenage years in San Francisco (and worked there for years after), I'm well aware of Herb Caen's "Don't call it Frisco" campaign. I only used it to mock those who use it. Based on insufficient info I'll admit to leaning towards hating Frisco, Texas. Idk about the other Friscos, but I kinda hate some of their states.

Speaking of stupid and paranoid people:
Couple vocally opposed to vaccine die of COVID two weeks apart
... According to The Free Lance-Star, high-school sweethearts Kevin Mitchem, 48, and Misty Mitchem, 46 leave behind five orphaned children Riley, 17; Leah, 14, and twins Taylor and Aiden, 11. Kevin also has a 22-year-old daughter named Angel, whose son will turn 2 next month, from a previous relationship.
Kevin was the first to fall ill, developing a cough before ultimately testing positive for COVID-19. His wife Misty was diabetic, causing her condition to decline much quicker. She was intubated on Sept. 22 when her kidneys were functioning at 50 percent. She died Sept. 23, the very same day Kevin was hospitalized. Kevin died on Oct. 8....
“I knew how deadly COVID could be so I went to my brother and asked him to please get vaccinated,” he said. “His response to me was to show different memes and stuff that he found on Facebook. He believed all that to be gospel truth and I could not change his mind.”
“The heartbreaking part was while [Kevin] was in the hospital, he asked the medical staff to give him the shot. They had to tell him it was too late.” ...
Oh, well. That's how the Covid cookie crumbles.
Well they sure owned the libs....
They died of selfishness. If they had gotten vaccinated, their children would not now be orphaned
