Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Who cares?

But it's clear that Vrudy has some moves after all, despite the hunchback.
No, that's not clear at all. That lady called me in a fit of angst over the graffiti on the side of her building. I said "madam, what you need are some quick but thorough stomping lessons." Who cares? That matters not.

"I recently read a book about Marcus and Narcissa Whitman"

Glad you liked it. The book was pretty fascinating. And with any luck my favorite obituary will appear sometime in the next 36 months. Oh, and the current remnants of the Cayuse tribe still have a fine hatred of Whitman.
What's the name of the book? Sounds like an interesting read.

Well, since the river is coming in from the southwest, you might want to point the RV in that direction.

Just a thought....
Sacrificial windshield? If anything wouldn't pointing northeast be a better choice?
Poor baby.
Does the RV double as a boat at anchor?

Well, if I really expected a windshield breaking swirl of heavy crap to come in, we'd move entirely. But if you had to make such a choice, pointing toward the wind would be better. Being safety glass, nothing short of a big branch or a small cow flying into it is going to break it completely out. Replacing a windshield is 100% covered in insurance, and it's not a huge job to get it done. Guys show up, climb around and grunt for about an hour, and leave with your broken one in their truck. Replacing the back, however, is way worse. The entire panel is one big piece of fibreglass, and then there's the engine compartment. Also, all the vents, covers, etc. on the roof are designed to be facing forward into the wind as you drive.

Ah thanks, my bad. See how easy that is, Ulysses? You should try it sometime.

That said, all I did was ask the questions without any recriminations. There was never any reason for you to throw a tantrum over it.

Hope you like it. It was a really fascinating historical tale. The author has written a couple of others. One is about the Columbia River that runs from British Columbia to the Pacific in Oregon and another is about a North Korean who escaped from a detention camp.

Context. My post to you ended with, "Ah thanks, my bad." The sentence you quote was a continuation of my words for Ulysses.

We didn't set out with a plan to follow Lewis and Clark's expedition, nor to follow the Columbia particularly, but over a few years we've seen many parts of both. It was pretty cool a couple of weeks ago to be at the mouth of the Columbia, looking at what is called the "bar" where the river and the sea actually meet and is particularly hazardous for boats/ships of all sizes. We visited Lewis and Clark's last encampment before they began their return trip. We walked out to the end of the South Jetty and then drove over the big-ass bridge to the Washington side and viewed the bar from the Cape Disappointment lighthouse. All worth putting up with the rain to see.

That bridge bears some resemblance to the Richmond-San Rafael bridge, which spans the Bay between Marin and Contra Costa counties:

Southwest Airlines ejects passenger after she assaulted and hospitalized an employee

This epidemic of unruly passengers would quickly end if airlines could literally and immediately eject them.

So ever since we've been in the Bay Area TV market, we've watched local news - and San Francisco stations have HOURS of news - pretty much every broadcast has some Oakland news. From that, one would surely think Oakland is a city of crime, shootings, assaults, garbage piled on streets ... did I mention shootings?

So are the stations biased because they're from across the Bay? Or is it just a "if it bleeds it leads" habit that most all stations have now? Or is Oakland really a scary place?

Sure.

Parts of it, depending on what one is up to. I recently looked it up, Oakland is not the worst in CA for murder rate, but it's in the top 5.
