Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Only complete morons and tweens think that insinuations of being gay bother either gays or their allies.
Only severely brain damaged bigots keep doing it over and over after this is pointed out.

Is that how you cope with your severely brain damaged bigotry being pointed out? It's certainly what you do with all of your other screw ups.

Did someone make off with a cache of grapes?
This time of year, I would think most all the grapes have been harvested, crushed, and are fermenting in their own juices to make lovely wine.

Or grape juice/jam/preserves.
Yeah, and leaving vinyards full of very colorful fall-tinted leaves.

Vancouver storm: A state of emergency has been declared in British Columbia
A state of emergency has been declared in the Canadian western province of British Columbia after a major storm cut road and rail links in the region.

The Canadian Armed Forces have been deployed to help thousands of stranded residents who have been trapped since the storm hit overnight on Sunday. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pledged assistance during a visit to Washington DC and said troops would help rebuild.

One woman was killed in a landslide, and two people are missing. Officials expect more fatalities to be confirmed in the coming days. One man caught up in the storm told the BBC the scenes afterwards were like "Armageddon".

Is that your answer? You were stupidly cautioning the southbound O Really to not head northbound, after you had already mentioned Vancouver's woes yesterday. You're welcome for the help getting back on track. You should ask for it more often.

Latest weather report has rain expected to hit Santa Rosa area, where O R is currently habitating (RV-ing?) in a few days. But about 70 miles south of there, it will remain largely dry. If not high.

I'm guessing they've got umbrellas and waterproof boots.

Pretty sure they won't melt too.

We even got some sprinkles down here. Enough to convince the cat to come in for some more chow. Then she went out again. In again. Out again. So it goes. I have no idea where she is at the moment. Oh, wait. Just checked. She's now taking her six hour evening nap on a little rug I set up for her.

We were too late, I guess. Actually, that stretch of 5 is close to where we go past several times a week, except we're usually on the Coast highway instead of the freeway. Where it happened is close to an exit that jams up a lot anyway - exit for Flower Fields, LegoLand, winery, state park, residential areas, yada. Add in a couple of people intentionally blocking the road and lots of idiots running around grabbing money, it must have been total chaos for a while.

So we stopped off in Bakersfield on the way to Palm Springs at a very nice RV park where we've has short stays before. I mention that it's a very nice park to put context to the rest of my comments.
Bakersfield:
1. One of the least educated places in the US, ranking 100 out of 100 largest metro areas.
2. Top ten in obesity in US, as well has more than twice the California average for smokers, high rate of diabetes and hypertension
3. Frontier delineating Sureño and Norteño gang territories
4. Bakersfield police kill civilians at the highest rate in the U.S., logging 13.6 killings per million people, compared to the U.S. average of 3.6. Law enforcement officers in Kern County, California, killed more people per capita than in any other American county in 2015.
5. 20% official poverty rate.
6. 47% covid vax rate.
and...

Bakersfield may be the eighth-most-conservative city in the United States and the most conservative city in California. In the 2008 Presidential election, Republican John McCain received 55.6% of the city's votes to Democrat Barack Obama's 42.9%. The same year, Bakersfield cast 75.2% of its votes in favor of Proposition 8, which amended the California Constitution to ban same-sex marriage. In the 2016 presidential election, Donald Trump received 50.4% of the vote compared to Hillary Clinton's 44.0%. Bakersfield is in parts of two Congressional districts, one of which has the scummy Kevin McCarthy.

Uneducated, fat, smoking, unhealthy, covid carrying poor people getting killed by their own cops. Is anyone shocked it's California's reddest area?
