The car thread ...

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Maybe it's just one more instance of failure to comprehend English....something you're accomplished in.

I was putting forth the idea that the cars, like you, cannot comprehend the English language and that they all ended up there at a dead end. Nothing wrong with me; haven't been to a doctor or a district attorney in more than six and fifty years respectively. How about you? What the fuck is wrong with you?

If Boy Useless had better comprehension he wouldn't have needed the explanation.

Leno sets 1/4 mile record at 9.247 seconds and gets passed over before the day is over.

He may have a point about driver weight. But still, Leno must be a very good wheel man.

Not a very good wheel man:
Truck crashes into home in Egg Harbor City (Whack9's hood), NJ
Chopper 6 and the Action Cam showed the home suffered extensive damage and partially collapsed from the impact.

... According to police, a dump truck and another vehicle collided.

That's when the dump truck driver, who has been identified as 69-year-old Rogelio Serrano, lost control and continued traveling westbound. The truck went off the road and crashed into a house....

... Officials said Richard Beck, 80, was inside the home at the time of the crash.

The impact of the collision caused the floor to give way, dropping him into the basement. He was not seriously injured.

Serrano is a long-time employee of J Domenico & Son Excavating based out of Hammonton, New Jersey. According to the company, he was off the job at the time of crash and was released from the hospital following the collision....

College student from Georgia vanished in 1976. His car was just found 45 years later

Nearly 46 years ago, 22-year-old Kyle Clinkscales vanished on his way back to school from his hometown in Georgia.

The Auburn University student was making the roughly 45-mile drive from LaGrange, Georgia, on the night of Jan. 27, 1976, in his Ford Pinto but never arrived, according to the Troup County Sheriff’s Office. For decades, investigators followed hundreds of leads but never made any substantial developments in the case — until now.

On Tuesday, Dec. 7, authorities in Alabama found his Ford Pinto, which had also been missing, submerged in a creek....

I'm a bit impressed that a Ford Pinto managed to last submerged in water for some 46 years.

Depends on the definition of "last".

I would imagine that any car submerged in fresh water for 46 years would be in better shape than that same car sitting in a field for 46 years. Lots of air in the field to accelerate decay; not so much at the bottom of a river.

 I just watched that thing about ten minutes ago and was going to post it here. Maybe I should sue you and whine in the first degree. But hominy don't play that. Edit: I, like you, probably cringed at the environmental aspects of Tesla shards being blasted into the local landscape. I guess it was worth it. It was only one car.

Couple of points:

1) The Tesla wasn't blown up just anywhere. It was blown up in an abandoned mining pit. So I surmise the effect on the surrounding landscape was somewhat if not completely contained. I reserve the right to alter my conclusion when I view the entire destruction.

2) From the comments in the video:
More detailed info was in Finnish news paper (Helsingin Sanomat). The earlier owner had changed the battery to more powerful and not with Tesla Dealer. That's why the guarantee was expired and before fixing any error code Tesla Dealer insisted the whole battery to be replaced with Tesla's own battery.
So... someone had fucked with the car battery (removed the Tesla original and put in a non-Tesla substitute) and that led to the problem. This explains why Tesla refused to repair the Model S under warranty.

3) The car in question was mfg in 2013. So, it was already eight years old when it failed. I understand EV battery packs generally have a limited lifespan anyway. Something like a 30% reduction in capacity by the age of this Tesla. Something EV buyers should keep in mind. There is an alternative battery design that has less total capacity but might be longer-lived, IDK. I'd have to research that option, and don't know if it ever was an option for Teslas.

4) Issues with EV battery packs are not limited to Tesla. I'm sure we're all aware of the Chevy Bolts that have had their battery packs catch fire when parked, resulting in some destruction of garages etc when they are parked under cover. At least this Tesla didn't catch fire.

Article:
Watch a Tesla owner blow up his Model S with 66 pounds of dynamite instead of paying $22,000 to repair it

... The warranty does not cover "damage resulting from intentional actions," like blowing the car up for a YouTube video.

Well, Ulysses, I liked the part when they dropped Elon out of the helicopter. Most of the other shit you mention was addressed in the story. The car being modified, the age of the car.....don't be an aftermarket reporter. At least not here. It won't work.
