The Faux tree wasn't a faux tree, guys. The faux trees are usually made fireproof. GoCubsGo's video and this article state that it was a Norway spruce, which is a little ironic for an "All-American Christmas Tree" (I know, it was probably grown in America, but still). The framework was likely there to support the 10,000 glass ornaments and 100,000 lights.

My conspiracy theory : Someone at Faux Noise hired the mentally ill homeless firebug so that cons could exploit Jesus by playing victims, again.

Aside: I'll bet the glass ornaments made a spectacular noise as they came crashing down.



Fwiw, I'm not disdainful of fake Christmas trees, other than being an atheist. I don't understand the fetish of killing something that has been growing for 10 or 50 years, like "in SF and Oakland", to use for a month of decoration. Among other things, the live trees were actively sequestering carbon while the killed ones release it - bad GW mojo.
