Pretty cool that we independently highlighted the exact same quote. Great minds . . .
I posted it. I guess you got up before breakfast and hit the PC long before I did.
My bad.
The quote was so ludicrous, it stuck out like a sore thumb.

No prob. You can't be expected to know about and read every thread before posting, and this is also an appropriate thread for the subject. I was just letting you and others know that more info/opinions were available.
I "got up" 4 days before you

Re: Coronavirus
Crap.Study suggests Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine may only partially protect against Omicron
The Omicron variant of the coronavirus can partially evade the protection from two doses of Pfizer Inc and partner BioNTech's COVID-19 vaccine, the research head of a laboratory at the Africa Health Research Institute in South Africa said on Tuesday.

Whew.Still, the study showed that blood from people who had received two doses of the vaccine and had a prior infection were mostly able to neutralize the variant, suggesting that booster doses of the vaccine could help to fend off infection.

... (Alex Sigal, a professor at the Africa Health Research Institute) said the lab had not tested the variant against blood from people who had received a booster dose, because they are not available in South Africa yet....
There is not significant data yet on how vaccines from Moderna, Johnson & Johnson and other drugmakers hold up against the new variant. All the manufacturers, including Pfizer and BioNTech, are expected to release their own data within weeks....

Re: Coronavirus
I don't see a conflict. The first article cites "the research head of a laboratory at the Africa Health Research Institute in South Africa," while the second cites Pfizer directly and even states "data from separate lab studies" specifically including South Africa.
Please elaborate on your objection.

I don't think any of the information issued by the manufacturers or other scientists (and even by CDC once Trump was gone) is particularly confusing nor contradictory. They gave the best information they had with the data they had. But that did set them up for criticism from those who would have criticized anyway. Of course, if they had kept saying "we don't know yet" they would have also have been roasted for that and called dumb to boot.

On Dec 7 we had an article that said the Pfizer vaccine would only partially protect against Omicron.
Then the next day, an article that said if boosted it could provide "full" protection against Omicron.
What it all illustrates is the fluid nature of our community defense against Covid.
If you were to counter that Covid is no laughing matter, OK, it isin't really, but if we lose our ability to laugh then where are we?

Re: Coronavirus
You're imagining some contradiction that isn't there.
2 doses = sketchy.
3 doses = we're good.

Re: Coronavirus
More news articles are emerging that even with three doses, Omicron is still infecting and causing symptoms, albeit mild.
And, as I remarked to other "Second Thanksgiving" guests at my SF cousin's house on Saturday 12-4-21 at approximately 1 pm, "if Omicron symptoms are mild, that could be a good thing, unless of course it mutates again".
Sorry, my life is not yet all online, so cannot provide a link for that.

The cat fan was the universal victim. He was pumped so full of right wing media nonsense that virtually anything that came up was some sort of attack on him or his liberty or something. Useless is the universal hall monitor and East Asheville Hardware spokesman who gets whined up at the drop of a hat. He says his life isn't all online but you sure could have fooled me. If I had half a dozen vehicles and as many cats as well as a hummingbird torture device and some big mushrooms I think I'd spend more time outside. Report: NFL records highest number of single-day positive COVID-19 tests since pandemic began
Opps.
... The NFL isn’t alone in dealing with new coronavirus outbreaks. The NBA on Monday postponed two games for the Chicago Bulls after 10 players entered the league’s health and safety protocols. The Charlotte Hornets have also been dealing with a similar outbreak in recent weeks.
Coronavirus cases are surging back up across the United States in general. As of Monday afternoon, the country is averaging nearly 120,000 new cases each day, according to The New York Times, which marks a 43% increase over the past two weeks. About 70% of Americans aged 12 and up are fully vaccinated....
