What are you watching?

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Well, I could see that for someone who travels in an RV like you seem to do. Me, I've traveled far and wide without much of a need for video entertainment. For me the travel is the entertainment. YMMV.
You haven't left you cluttered, hoarding infested house in thirty years.

Not that I give a goddam what you think.

In fact I expect you to get most things wrong. Especially about good people like me for whom you have no respect.

I almost bought a brown base double D getter EL34 tube made in Holland in 1960 a couple of days ago. It was priced in euros but came to about $120 plus shipping. I didn't get it since I have about 8 spare ones now. The amplifier uses four of them. Sometimes I get sad when I think that those little tubes in my cabinet will still be working after I've gone out of business. When they were made they sold for about $4.

IMNVHO, weather chicks in Southern California are the standards by which everywhere else can be measured.
Challengers welcome.
Well sure, you've got all of those wannabe actress and failed actress refugees from L.A.

We've got some cute reporters, but I wasn't sure about weather people. So, I went to the local websites to check. On one I just couldn't find the team, so I emailed them saying that it was probably my fault. I got a very fast response and after a couple of back-and-forths I figured out that I was too zoomed in. One zoom out click and the "About Us" tab became visible. Done, right? Nope, a second person from the station wrote to help me out, the "Chief Meteorologist". I thanked her and explained that it's settled. Now, a third person has written! I again thanked her and suggested that they need some way of marking comms 'completed'.

The station gets an 'A' for helpfulness, but an 'F' for efficiency. I sure won't be getting their weather app. Can you imagine the number of alerts and warnings?

Oh, and none of the weathercasters were worth throwing in the ring vs yours. :problem:

IIRC, she had some health problems and the crazy hours of local television were not conducive.

IIRC, she had some health problems and the crazy hours of local television were not conducive.
She touches on that at the link:
... Even though I was good at my job and even won an Emmy award, the grueling schedule was making me sick and I knew I had to make a change.

I left my career in the TV news business to pursue a healthier lifestyle with more work-life balance.

Click here to learn a little more about why I left WLOS.
At this link she says:
... This has been one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made, but I keep coming to the same conclusion: I need to make a change. My health has suffered since I started the morning and noon show show 7 years ago and as the hours I work continue to expand I’ve struggled to keep up with the schedule. I decided that waking up at 2:00 AM is not a healthy way for me to live at this point in my life. Some people do it for decades and can handle it, but my body is telling me I need to take a break. Please don’t worry about me though, I don’t have any ailments that my doctors don’t expect to go away once I start actually sleeping at night again! ...

One might think so, but one would be mistaken. F'rinstance:

There was a sports guy who moonlighted on some soap operas, though, and one male weather guy who was a professional-level surfer and snowboarder.

WLOS used to have Ingrid Allstadt, who could have hung with the SoCal ladies. Is she still there?

Looks like three kids and a full time career were a little too much.

Can't blame her.

...

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dagmar_Midcap

...
... Midcap often appeared in film and television series produced in the Vancouver area. She has appeared in such films as Catwoman, Baby Geniuses 2 and Air Bud: Seventh Inning Fetch. Television appearances have included Smallville, Stargate SG-1, Dead Zone, Just Cause, Touching Evil and Twilight Zone. Among others, she has also had recurring roles on the series Dark Angel.
Opps.

I'll give you the other 3 as being serious, credentialed and unconflicted. I'd still wonder if Hollywood's proximity doesn't influence audience expectations and the beauty of the weathercasters hired, but Idk.

Is there such a thing as an old female weathercaster anywhere? . . . Never mind, Dagmar Midcap is 52. Something tells me that this pic you posted was taken a few years back.

I don't consider Dagmar's listing to be an "opps." Just because she has done some acting doesn't make her a failed wannabe.
She's got a lot of talents and interests.
https://www.nbcsandiego.com/author/dagmar-midcap-2/

And she still looks not-52. Last night forecast:

As I've already indicated, I've been enjoying watching older films that I record to DVD from a local movie channel for later viewing.

Currently I'm in the middle of "The Accidental Tourist" (recorded from local PBS station, no commercials).

Starring William Hurt and Geena Davis. Davis is the only actor in the film to win an Oscar, for best supporting actress.

As usual, Neo and Cucky are focused on the trivia.

Here's the rest of my post:
