What. The. Fuck!?

Idaho ...

Seriously?
You answered your own questions. :(
Or Montana. Or Wyoming.
Montana seeks to end protections for Glacier-area grizzlies

Montana is asking the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to lift threatened species protections for grizzly bears in the northern portion of the state, including areas in and around Glacier National Park, officials said Monday.

The request, if granted, would open the door to public hunting of grizzlies in Montana for the first time in three decades....

In March, U.S. government scientists said the region's grizzlies are biologically recovered, but need continued protection under the Endangered Species Act because of human-caused bear deaths and other pressures.

Hunting of grizzlies is banned in the U.S. outside Alaska. Bears considered problematic are regularly killed by wildlife officials....

But wildlife advocates cautioned against giving the state control over grizzlies, after Republicans including Gianforte have advanced policies that make it much easier to kill another controversial predator, the gray wolf.

“We don't believe that there should be hunting of these iconic, native carnivores,” said environmentalist John Horning with the group WildEarth Guardians. “I have no doubt the state would push it to the absolute limit so they could kill as many grizzlies as possible.”

... Wyoming Gov. Mark Gordon said in September he will ask the federal government to remove protections for Yellowstone region grizzlies and permit the region’s three states to manage and potentially allow hunting of the big bruins in certain areas.

I read an interesting study that said killing wolves actually increases predation by disrupting the normal workings of the pack. Short (way too short) version - instead of sharing a cow, there would be more unpacked wolves going hunting.

You mean to say, a wolf pack beats its swords into cow shares?

Assholes, father and son.

Tiger fatally shot after biting worker’s arm at Florida zoo, authorities say

A cleaning worker was seriously injured by a tiger at the Naples Zoo in Florida on Wednesday after the man apparently put his arm into the animal’s enclosure, authorities said.

Eko, an 8-year-old Malayan tiger, was shot by a sheriff's deputy and died, the zoo said.

Deputies were called to the zoo, which was closed at the time, around 6:30 p.m. and found the animal with the worker’s arm in its mouth, the Collier County Sheriff’s Office said.

Sad.

It's a given that LEOs will shoot the tiger every time to save a human. However, there's more info:
... The man worked for a third-party cleaning service hired to clean restrooms and the gift shop and was not supposed to be in that area, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff's office said it appeared the man was trying to pet or feed the tiger, but noted the information was preliminary.

It appears the man "traversed an initial fence barrier and put his arm through the fencing of the tiger enclosure," before the tiger grabbed it, the sheriff's office said....

The Malayan tiger is classified as critically endangered and there are only around 200 estimated to live in the wild, according to the World Wildlife Fund.
My question is, if the LEO had somehow known all of this about the idiot, should he have shot the tiger? Alternatives, not necessarily in the opinion of the idiot, include:
Water hose;
Pepper spray;
Taser;
Long pole;
Getting some of the zoo's tiger food to toss in the cage;
Shooting a pigeon to toss in the cage.
Letting Darwin run its course.

I would add "shoot the guy with the arm" to the list.

Yeah, I saw that news story already on-line yesterday, although it didn't include the racist commentary about Japanese commuters.

I'm glad the shelter took in the parakeets. I hope most if not all the parakeets recover from their overcrowded ordeal.

Some years ago a parakeet landed in a tree on my property. I took it in and it lived a few more years, but eventually succumbed to some sort of malady. It was basically barfing non-stop.

If Europeans or Americans or Samoans or Haitians or Cubans were packed into subway cars by train company employees whose only job is to shove people into the car so the doors will shut, I would possibly have picked one of those, but since the Japanese are the only ones who do this as far as I know, I picked them. There's nothing racist about it. You sound like some kind of neurotic Republican babbling a response to something he either doesn't understand or is just ignorant about. If I had referred to the Japanese as "Japs" that would have been racist. Failure of comprehension really is your strong suit. And I bet that parakeet that you refer to probably died on an electrified wire after you attempted to bite its head off. It happened because you were holding it by the legs and it started slapping you in the face before you could bite off the head. Everybody knows it. Many people say it.

Oh, your comment was most definitely racist. And the more you deny it, the more racist it is proved to be.

Why?

Not because you mentioned packed Japanese subways.

No, it's because you compared them to cages full of parakeets.

The parakeet defense fund will be sending you an informative booklet to help you understand all this and avoid future errors.

Oh, shit, my comprehension liver must be acting up. I thought you were calling me racist when you wrote ".....although it didn't include the racist commentary about Japanese commuters." And I guess I ought to have my parakeet spleen checked while I'm at it.
