Can't root for any bay area team at this point.

Crap, walkoff TN FG.

Ugh, of the 7 current AFC playoff teams I only like #3 Wildcard Buffalo, and it not so much since my Baltimore is next in line for the slot. However, what 8-6 Baltimore really needs to do is beat 8-6 @Cincinnati on Sun and take over the AFC North lead. Then, I want 8-6 Buffalo to beat 9-5 New England. I'm not sure which of them would hold the AFC East tiebreaker.

... Rumored that the Bears want to unlock Nick Foles potential. 🤮
It's Throwback Sunday for the 4-10 Bears in a meaningless game:

Bears to start QB Nick Foles against Seahawks after ruling out Justin Fields, Andy Dalton

Ouch, 6.5 point underdog to 5-9 Seattle is kinda sad.

GO:

Cleveland
7-7 > 7.5 point favorite @Kaaron Bay 11-3, 1st NFC North
4:30 PM EST, On FOX, NFLN
Flailing 2.5 point favorite @Arizona 10-4, 1st NFC West > Surging Indianapolis 8-6
The Colts are currently the #1 AFC Wildcard, but a bunch of teams are hot on their heels.

Same here for the late afternoon game. It's telling when you don't get to watch your local team. Early afternoon here we get Bills at Pats, a crucial game, and Buccs at Panthers, possibly made interesting by Buccs injuries. GO Steelers, Bills, Panthers!

We get the Rams; the SoCal team whose name shall not be spoken; and then the Stillers. No Seahawks. No Bucs. No Bills-Pats, that I would enjoy if the Bills get pasted because of missing no-vax Beasley.

NBC game - My more youthful self would be aghast and probably gag at the thought, but that was then and this is now - Go Cowboys!

We get the Rams;

No preference here. The Rams could take over the NFC West, the uber diverse Vikings could get knocked out of the playoffs.

the SoCal team whose name shall not be spoken;

Go Houston, several teams I prefer for a Wildcard slot could be helped by an LA Traitors loss.

and then the Stillers. No Seahawks. No Bucs. No Bills-Pats, that I would enjoy if the Bills get pasted because of missing no-vax Beasley.

<holding nose> Go What (the) Fuck Team, hurt the Cowboys' seeding and help Philly's very slim NFC East winner hopes.

Yeah, that's not something I may have ever said before. When I was in high school, my family moved from Philadelphia to Maryland, and, though I didn't totally dump my Iggles, I did become a strong 'Skins fan, who I kept as at least a #2 no matter where I lived for years. And with 'Skins fandom comes an inborn hate of the Cowboys. Then, to make matters worse, when I lived in San Antonio for a while it was all Cowboys all the time, which made me like them even less, if possible. But time goes by, things change, team alliances come and go and Snyder buys the team and ruins everything about it. The 'Skins used to have some of the most loyal (and loud and obnoxious) fans in the league and there was a waiting list for tickets with people waiting for some ticketholder to die. Now it's to the point that if they don't win any more games, it's fine with me, particularly if it helps get Snyder out.

:thumbup: If the 6-8 What (the) Fuck Team had much of a shot at the playoffs I might feel differently about the game. Right now they're tied for #6 Wildcard position.

Significant but trivial pet peeve - not applicable only to football, but it's my most recent encounter.

Wikipedia says that John Madden won the Super Bowl while coaching the Las Vegas Raiders. NO, he didn't. It doesn't matter where they moved or what they call themselves now, Madden coached the OAKLAND Raiders 69-78.

They're especially bad about it in reporting Nascar, like saying Earnhardt won the Sprint Cup championship in 1994. NO, he won the WINSTON cup, which is what it was called at the time.

"Significant but trivial"? :P

Must depend on which Wiki page.

List of Super Bowl champions
XI January 9, 1977 (1976) Oakland Raiders

1976 Oakland Raiders season
John Madden

... He won Super Bowl XI as head coach of the Oakland Raiders over the Minnesota Vikings ...
History of the Oakland Raiders

The professional American football team now known as the Las Vegas Raiders played in Oakland, California as the Oakland Raiders from its founding in 1960 to 1981 and again from 1995 to 2019 before relocating to the Las Vegas metropolitan area. Between 1982 and 1994, the team played in Los Angeles as the Los Angeles Raiders.

Yeah, it means significant as a pet peeve to me, but I understand it's not very important in the overall scheme of things.

Thanks - people don't do it all the time, but often enough to be annoying. The original place that started my rant was in the Wiki listing for "John Madden" in what was really just a welfare check on my part. I thought he was dead - Lady O was pretty sure he was still alive. She was right.

Yes, you're right. Mine was actually from the little insert panel you get when you first search. That was sufficient for me at the time. Found out Lady O was right again. BTW, I didn't know he was defensive coordinator for the Aztecs before getting the Oakland job.
