Good news/kindness only (please) thread

I thought this was pretty cool....Dutch princess, heir to the throne, declines her $1.9 million yearly allowance. She turns 18 in December which is when the allowance would begin.

I'd be happy to take it off her hands. Mind you, I'm not Dutch (although I've been told my appearance would qualify), and probably have zero royal blood, but I'm just trying help out a poor princess.

In the meantime, I found an empty grocery store plastic bag, put about four Hass avocados in various stages of ripeness from my backyard tree in it, and traipsed on down the block to give to a neighbor who is working from home. Rang the bell a few times and then hung it from the doorknob. As I was exiting down her driveway, she opened the door, quickly said "I'm on a conference call!" but also thanked me quite sincerely for the gift.

My avocado tree doth runneth over.

The other good news is that the street paving is over. When I checked at about 3:30 pm, all the "No Parking" signs had been removed, and an Amazon van came down the street to drop off something to a neighbor. No, I don't know what it was, but I'm sure they appreciated it.

Four year old girl missing in the wilderness for 18 days is found!

Turns out she was found abandoned in a house owned by a 36 year old man, a few blocks from her parents' home.

Now, I'm against the death penalty, but if this guy is found to have molested her... life in prison almost would not be enough punishment for him.

Officials wept with relief after seeing body camera video of a police officer scooping up the girl, Cleo Smith, and hearing her say, “My name is Cleo.” A 36-year-old local man was arrested after the late-night raid at the house in the coastal town of Carnarvon, which followed a tip to police on Tuesday.

The girl was reunited with her mother Ellie Smith and stepfather Jake Gliddon soon after her rescue. “Our family is whole again,” the mother said on social media.

Western Australia state Police Commissioner Chris Dawson would not detail what the girl had gone through. She is “as well as you can expect,” Dawson said. “This has been an ordeal. I won’t go into any more details, other than to say we’re so thankful she’s alive.”

Kudos to those involved in locating the child.

A close neighbor of mine (maybe Leo knows him - he was a big shot federal marshall) was arrested for setting up a meet with a mom approved 3 year old in Chicago.
It was later determined that he had been abusing his 3 daughters. Beautiful little girls who loved to pet my Bassett anytime they saw us on a walk.
The pig killed himself in Chicago rather than live with what he did. That's been almost 20 years ago. It's also been 20 years that the asshole doesn't have to think about what he did and open a frequent letter from me calling him scum.

He may have been a federal prosecutor, either way, he was an educated pillar of the community.

The missing 5 year old girl from Hawkins County TN from back in June has still not been found. Just last weekend the father was arrested for DUI. I saw today that both parents will soon be on the Dr. Phil show. So I guess that's good news for Dr. Phil. Kindness took the day off.

The little girl is still missing and has been relegated to the "top stories of 2021" in the local press. I still think the father is behind it.
