Since this is the race thread, I will say that since I first saw the movie I was torn between identifying with Jack or The Chief. But I always hated that white bitch head nurse. The manic guy who liked to start fires and make weird faces reminds me of Jim Jordan. They're both white and crazy.
I'm glad social media wasn't around when I was younger. Not because I was going off on racist rants, but because of all the dumb stuff in general you do as a teenager.

For Gracie Wood this was a learning experience. Gracia now understands the importance of keeping your bigotry close.
Oakbrook Preparatory School in Spartanburg issued a statement that this has nothing to do with the racist environment they allow.
Oakbrook also stated that this has nothing to do with the racist, antisemitic and homophobic parents that choose to send their kids to join the Oakbrook Christian educational community.

So what did she say? Without that, there is no real context for the story. Without that, the "news" report is just a gossip rag spreading innuendo and letting readers' imaginations run wild.
Edit: Ah, here we go. Drunk fat chick ranting.
In the footage, first posted by the @saucecarolina IG account reportedly, the 17-year-old Oakbrook Preparatory School student tells her friends all “Mexicans and Middle Easterners” want to do “is kill people.” When asked how she feels about Africans, Gracie screamed “Kill them!” and suggested those in power “blow up the whole continent of Africa.” When asked about Germans, her response was “Y’all are Nazis, but since y’all hate gay people and Black people, I support.” She then proceeded to give what’s known as a Nazi salute, while shouting “Hail Hitler” and insisting Hitler was “a pretty quality man. And he went out the right way by killing himself.”
Gracie went on to say that all Black people look like monkeys. She also listed all of her “favorite slurs.”

It's not just that she's the daughter of a local news anchor.
... Gracie’s father Mike Wood is also a Spartanburg County magistrate judge, with the power to make minorities suffer under the guise of “justice,” so prayers up for South Carolina....
Why is Mom doing all of the apologizing (and blaming peers and booze)? Where's Gracie?

I don't know anything about this girl, and I don't know anything about the parents other than what's been reported. I'm pretty sure, though, that Gracie wouldn't be the first kid to run crosswise to their parents' thinking. Sometimes as normal development; sometimes as intentional rebellion. Sometimes just to try to get away from whatever image their parents have. So I, personally, would hold off a bit before painting the parents with the stain of the kid or assuming the kid is reflecting the parents views.
As one pretty smart shrink said (who happened to be my pop), "you can't raise your kid to be independent and then be pissed off when he's not just like you."
The real punishment for Gracie is going to be that that vid will follow her for decades and maybe forever. Might not keep her out of every law school, but she's never going to be a judge like her old man, or a prosecutor, or a politician (well, maybe a Republican), or a news person like her mom (but that would likely be out anyway). Doesn't look good even if she tries to say "just drunk and playing a role". Hell, blackish face at a costume party 20 years ago gets your ass in it now. She has effectively put a major dent in her life opportunities, which would undoubtedly have been many and substantial.
Speaking of costume parties - one of the most fun ones I ever attended was a "Come as you're not" party. People dressed pretty much opposite to their real personalities. Some costumes were elaborate, like the gymnast-looking girl that wore a fat suit (certainly bad form in 2022), and others were simple, such as the guy who wore regular clothes with a foot-long 2x4 hanging from his belt. He was not a "hung stud." One 5'8" black guy wore a Larry Bird jersey - he was not a "tall white guy." Would it have been so awful for some white dude to go with darkened face, big gold chains, and a fedora - saying he's not a Run DMC rapper? At that time, nobody would have thought anything about it. But the pics from that party would be chasing him into 2022 and he'd be having to defend why he's not a racist.
BTW, I went as a militia-survivalist type, with camo, face paint, and plastic weapons.

True, but I think we can read something into the parents' choice to send Gracie to a fundie Xtian school. https://www.oakbrookprep.org/about/what-we-believe
Antisemitism and homophobia are hardly surprising there. Then, it's been said that America is at its most segregated on Sunday mornings. Spartanburg is 43.75% Black or African American (non-Hispanic). Notice anything about this pic from Oakbrook Preparatory School's homepage?
What "values" did the parents think that she would be exposed to there?

Well, sure, but if your kid wore one, would you send them there? Or if your kid were black? Or Catholic? Nope. It's sort of a self-perpetuating selection whether they actively screen out "others" or not. But yeah, it does say something about the parents that they did send Gracie there.

The parents knew their kid was like this. From school, friends, or family, the parents knew and they raised this hate filled excuse of a child.

And if they claimed they didn't, they should have known.
