Clearly they chose "Commanders" because "Seahawks" was already taken.

Just wondering - who thought stencil-style numbers were cool? But if they put the red jersey over the white pants, or the white jersey over the red pants and ditched the all black uni that isn't part of the color scheme anyway, then they'd have... 2002. NTTAWWT

Naa, they quit paying any attention to O Really's opinion back before they started calling themselves the "Football Team."

You're right to put it in quotes. "Football team" is an exaggeration when it comes to describing what those DC boys have been doing for many years.

Last playing of "Hail to the Redskins" at RFK. Thumped the Cowboys. Good ending.

So you won't believe what I found when checking on what the 'Skins record was in '96 when they left RFK. Apparently there were no Redskins in the NFC East.
Spoiler:
There were NO effin' Commanders playing in 1996 Arrrrgh!

If they don't improve on 7-10, they'll be the Salamanders.
But he's right. I think pretty much every team with more than two syllables gets shortened. Bucs, Pats, 'Hawks, Commies...

I've joked around about the team formerly known as Redskins' fight song, but really they ought to retool the lyrics and keep it. It's one of the top team fight songs ever - right up there with Michigan's and Notre Dame. And way better than whatever that Yammer Hammer is that Alabama has.

New York Jets have hilarious reaction to Tom Brady retiring from NFL

...

Well played.

The Jets' relief is understandable. Brady had a 30-7 record (1-1 in playoffs) versus the Jets in his career. He also tallied a 62.3 completion percentage, 9,059 yards, 60 touchdowns and 11 interceptions against New York.
I'm a little surprised that the Jets beat him 7 times.

Feb 1

But seriously, congrats on a first-ballot, Hall of Fame career, @TomBrady.

We may not miss seeing you on the field, but the entire football world will.
Classy.
Brady's last game versus the Jets came in Week 17 this past season when he led an exciting fourth quarter comeback with a late touchdown to beat New York 28-24.

Luckily for the Jets, they don't have to worry about Brady inflicting more pain on the franchise.
Of course he did.

That's no "Whoops." The Brady tweet came 1.5 hours after you remarked on Brady not mentioning the Patriots in his prior statement.

Told ya, (GoCubsGo).
Lie, pitiful. You stupidly and irrelevantly told GoCubsGo that the article mentioned Kraft. You never posted a word about what Brady said.
I know that you've gone into full cower mode, Useless, as usual, but GoCubsGo was 100% correct about Brady's retirement statement, and he wasn't the only person that noticed:
Zolak goes on epic rant about Brady not mentioning Pats in retirement reveal

... Brady did not give a single word, sentence or paragraph to the Patriots, Bill Belichick, Robert Kraft or the fans of New England....

Brady not mentioning the Patriots didn't sit well with Scott Zolak -- the former New England quarterback and co-host of 98.5 The Sports Hub radio show "Zolak & Bertrand"....
