Oh, I understand the concept of "herd Immunity". But I don't understand the relevance of "the herd thinning out" in reference to herd immunity. Is it something you made up all on your own?O Really wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 12:34 pmThat would be the same herd that supposedly gets immunity. Included in Merriam-Webster definition (2). Re: Traveling
Well, if you want herd immunity, you should not want the herd to "thin out". That would imply that the herd is dying off. Unless that's your idea of success. Not mine.GoCubsGo wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 12:45 pmOr "thinning the herd"?O Really wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 12:34 pmThat would be the same herd that supposedly gets immunity. Bizarre cause for some of them:

Apparently a significant problem across the nation and planet.... in Montana this past summer slow-burning coal reserves fanned by winds sparked a pair of blazes that burned a combined 267 square miles (691 square kilometers) on and around the Northern Cheyenne Indian Reservation....

Re: Traveling
I callA woman with a severe nut allergy says she was kicked off an American Airlines flight after crew members told her they are required to serve nuts
A 26-year-old woman from England said she was booted from an American Airlines flight because the airline would not accommodate her nut allergy.
In a series of tweets, Sophie Draper — who has a severe nut allergy that puts her at risk for life-threatening anaphylaxis — said she first mentioned her health condition at the gate when boarding a flight from London to New York in December 2021.
According to Draper, the head of cabin crew informed her they were "contractually obliged to serve hot mixed nuts in first and business class." Draper had purchased a seat in economy. However, due to the severity of her allergy, she explained that sitting in economy would not protect her from the risk of inhaling an airborne allergen....
"I broke down in tears," Draper tweeted. "I felt totally discriminated against for a health condition I have no control over." ...

You don't wait until the gate to make such an extreme demand for a special accommodation. Has any other airline ever complied?
Where's the mention that she was taking a preemptive antihistamine?
If she's that sensitive just having the nuts aboard would trigger her allergy, even if not served.
If she's that sensitive even the residual allergens from removed nuts would trigger her allergy.
The airline can't control what snacks other passengers bring aboard.
If she's that sensitive she can't be in any enclosed space with others and should have known that she's thus unable to fly.
I think this is a manufactured lawsuit that stinks and that she's counting on a settlement since she'd lose at trial. Nuts.
It’s a business, not a constitutional right.
Email, wait on the phone? That's what I do with my daughter and what anyone would do in a life and death situation. I definitely wouldn't leave it until I'm boarding the plane!
Do not impose on others. There Will Always be RESIDUAL![]()
particle. Jeez ?!
You could always wear an N95 mask on the plane.....or a N99/P100 mask.
No telling how many other comments she deleted from her account. The air is filtered every 2-3 minutes through hepa filters in the plane. Not disrespecting anyone about their allergies but just curious. Between wearing a N95 mask and having air filtered I would think this wouldn't be a problem.

I concur. It's bullshit. Besides, as far as I know airplane nuts come in sealed foil packets. you don't have to open them, much less eat them.

Re: Traveling
True, but she claims her allergy is such that even someone else opening the nut packages to eat them would trigger her severe allergy. Plus, these were not just nuts in sealed packages, they were heated per the airline menu, and that reasonably could have accelerated the release of said allergens.neoplacebo wrote: ↑Sat Feb 12, 2022 2:02 pmI concur. An alternative could be a full face P100 mask, and refraining from removing it to eat or drink for the duration of the flight.
Or drive.

If she's that sensitive just having the nuts aboard would trigger her allergy, even if not opened or served. Did she really expect that they would get removed, all residual particulates cleansed away and replacement snacks brought aboard based on her whining at the gate?
... Or drive.

WTF does that even mean?According to Draper, the head of cabin crew informed her they were "contractually obliged to serve hot mixed nuts in first and business class."
I'm pretty sure airlines will accommodate with advanced notice and it's inconceivable to me that someone with that extreme an allergy wouldn't know that.
The whole thing sounds like a Reddit story.

Re: Traveling
She should book passage on a cargo ship, stay in her cabin or out on deck, and have her boyfriend inspect and bring the nut-free meals to her.

Idk, but I'm suspicious of her interpretation.
I'm pretty sure airlines will accommodate with advanced notice and it's inconceivable to me that someone with that extreme an allergy wouldn't know that.
Given how sensitive she claims to be, I'm not sure that accommodation is possible. Plus, "The airline can't control what snacks other passengers bring aboard." If I were the airline's medical or legal advisor I'd say that liability issues even with maximum effort are too great to allow her onboard.
The whole thing sounds like a Reddit story.

That's pedaling, not "drive". There's also motoring, paddling, rowing or sailing with different craft.
Geez, just grow a pair and admit that you didn't pay attention to or comprehend the posted flight details.
