But for my money, it's the best concert film ever made.

I've always considered The Allman Brothers at Fillmore East (March 1971) to be the best live concert ever. And the fact they had two drummers was awesome as well. Here's one song from that show (there were six performances over three nights).

But for my money, it's the best concert film ever made.

If The Wall counted as a concert movie I'd pick it, but Wiki calls it a "musical psychological drama film".

Stop Making Sense is excellent, but I'll go with Woodstock being the best.

The Last Waltz is pretty great, too.

I've seen The Who three times - once at the Toronto "last" show, once in '89 from the fourth row in the best concert I ever attended, and last in an unfortunately forgettable but decent show in early 2000's sometime. Here's the end of the '89 show:

No idea. I remember I had wandered by the Fillmore and saw a bunch of disguntled people filing out. I decided to go in, probably because by that time there was no charge. Shortly after I entered the hall, the awesome drumming started. I remember relating the experience to one of the campus radio station's DJ's, and he seemed impressed.

Might have been just one drummer, IDK. Seemed like two needed to make all that noise.

I also recall someone commenting that the band had broken up that night, on stage. Wish I could remember who they were.

I do occasionally engage in niggling, a perfectly proper Brit word that has nothing to do with any other word starting with "nigg", but that wasn't my intent here, It's just that for someone who enjoys them, a good concert, regardless of official definition, is an experience - an immersive experience - not just something seen.

All this niggling has convinced me to re bias my amplifier tubes. It's a real pain in the ass because I have to turn four different small screws until the indicator light comes on and it's hard as hell to do; the screws are smaller than the winding dial on an old watch and down in a hole. Plus the hot tubes are near the holes unless you're a child with small hands. After that I figure to put on the Allman Brothers Fillmore East disc and become useless in a good way.

I think it was "Fillmore West '71" but maybe there was also an East. Or you could be looking at the back of the album. Yes, that's niggling.

Never heard of them.
"On August 6, 1977, the Sons of Champlin played what many assumed to be their last gig at the Kirkwood Meadows ski resort opening for Elvin Bishop and Dave Mason. After this performance, Champlin left the group to pursue work as a session vocalist in Los Angeles."

But Champlin went to work for Chicago, and apparently stayed with them from '81-'09, being lead on some works.
