Do Ukrainians learn shit talking as a class in school or something? All these videos have pretty well thought out insults that seem tailor made for the situation and they rarely seem generic.
Slavic people man. I'm half Yugoslavian and when I was down there my uncle got in an argument with a neighbor and said something along the lines of "Give me a gun so I can shoot myself, I can't deal with this level of stupidity any more!".

They are creative as fuck with their insults.

U.N. Assembly votes to demand that Russia stops the war in Ukraine

The U.N. General Assembly voted at an emergency special session Wednesday to demand an immediate halt to Moscow’s offensive against Ukraine and withdrawal of all Russian troops, with very strong support from the world organization’s 193 member nations that sparked sustained applause.

The vote on the resolution, entitled “Aggression against Ukraine,” was 141-5 with 35 abstentions.

Russia got support for its appeal to vote against the resolution only from Belarus, Syria, North Korea and Eritrea, a powerful indication of the international isolation that Russian President Vladimir Putin faces for invading his country’s smaller neighbor. Emphasizing that isolation was a major goal of the resolution’s supporters.

The abstentions included China and India, as expected, but also some surprises from usual Russian allies Cuba and Nicaragua. And the United Arab Emirates, which abstained on last Friday’s similar Security Council resolution, voted “yes.”

... The assembly resolution, co-sponsored by 96 countries, deplored Russia’s “aggression” against Ukraine “in the strongest terms” and demanded an immediate halt to Moscow’s use of force and the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of all Russian forces from Ukraine’s internationally recognized borders.

The measure also called on Russia to reverse a decision to recognize two separatist parts of eastern Ukraine as independent....

The resolution’s co-sponsors included Afghanistan, where the Taliban ousted the elected government last August, and Myanmar, where the military overthrew the elected government led by Aung San Suu Kyi on Feb. 1, 2021....

Courage! Long, but very interesting to me:

Pussy Riot's Nadya Tolokonnikova talks UkraineDAO NFT and why she's 'really tired of the global community being complacent about what Putin (and the oligarchs) does'
Germany seized the world's largest mega-yacht worth $600 million belonging to Russian oligarch Alisher Usmanov, according to Forbes report

... Usmanov's yacht, which has been docked in Hamburg, Germany, for months for a refitting, is the first to be seized since Russia's attack on Ukraine began on February 24.

Dilbar, a 512-foot yacht that weighs 15,917 tons, "is the largest motor yacht in the world by gross tonnage," according to Lürssen, the German ship's maker.

Usmanov bought the custom-built yacht for an estimated $600 million and it took 52 months to build, according to Forbes....

Usmanov's assets were frozen as part of sanctions levied by the European Union, according to the Guardian. After the European Union announced sanctions against Usmanov and other Russian oligarchs, he stepped down as President of the International Fencing Federation, one of his companies....

The oligarch has historically supported Russian President Vladimir Putin, though he has not commented on the current attack on Ukraine.

"I am proud that I know Putin, and the fact that everybody does not like him is not Putin's problem," the Uzbekistan-born oligarch told Forbes in a 2010 interview.

Sen. Graham introduces resolution supporting ICC complaint against Putin's alleged war crimes in Ukraine

On Tuesday, Sen. Lindsey Graham introduced a resolution in support of the Ukrainian government’s complaint to the International Criminal Court alleging Russian President Vladimir Putin is committing war crimes in the invasion of Ukraine. Standing with Rep. Victoria Spartz, R-Ind., who is Ukrainian American, Graham warned Russian troops that they follow Putin “at [their] own peril,” saying they could find themselves before the court if they commit war crimes....
:bs:

Personally, I have always supported the ICC, but for Lindsey or any other US pol to selectively endorse it is disgusting hypocrisy.
Video Transcript

LINDSEY GRAHAM: ... There've been 161 individuals indicted and convicted ranging from common soldiers to prime ministers and generals. The United States is not a member. We've had some problems with the court in the past. When the court tries to go after Israel or Rumsfeld here in the United States, I think that's off base....

Back in the early 2000s when the US was being particularly hostile towards the ICC I visited a series of sandbag "bunkers" that Dutch activists had built on the Rotterdam beach to "defend" the ICC from American attack. Great visual action.

Lindsey was silent when 45SHOLE sanctioned ICC officials. That said, it's not like Dems have been better, but they're not the ones picking and choosing when they want the ICC to act.

Hillary Clinton's strident opposition to the International Criminal Court

Biden lifts sanctions on International Criminal Court officials
The Biden administration, however, said it still opposes ICC efforts to investigate U.S. and Israeli actions.

I understand that it's complicated and I know that my opinions are on a fringe relative to both parties' pols. However, I think there's less doubt that Lindsey is an asshole for demanding that the ICC act while otherwise sneering at it. He's just trying to distract from Trumpettes and the GQP being in bed with Putin for years.

There are live camera feeds on that big nuclear power station, but so far haven't seen any actual shelling of it. But then I'm not watching the live feeds 7x24. Is there any footage of the shelling?

Russian forces attack Ukrainian nuclear plant, blaze extinguished (video)
Fire extinguished at Ukraine nuclear plant after Russian attack

A fire that erupted in a training building at Europe’s largest nuclear power plant amid heavy Russian shelling was extinguished, authorities said Friday.

The State Emergency Service of Ukraine said in a statement that there were no victims in the blaze, according to an NBC News translation. Ukrainian officials said the fire ignited at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant after Russian troops opened fire on it.

“Russian army is firing from all sides upon Zaporizhzhia NPP, the largest nuclear power plant in Europe,” the foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, said earlier on Twitter. “Fire has already broke out.”

Kuleba added that if the plant, which holds six of the country’s 15 reactors, explodes, it will be far worse than the 1986 Chernobyl disaster....

Perhaps most remarkable is that Rep Liz Cheney goes out of her way to stomp him. After all, ex-military RWNJ Trumpettes are a dime a dozen on Faux Noise, and MacGregor has not been taken seriously in the Pentagon or Congress for a long time.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Douglas_M ... ary_career
... Macgregor was also seen as blunt, and to some, arrogant. Despite Magregor's top post-Gulf War NTC (National Training Center) showing, his Army career was sidelined. The summer of 1997 marked the third time the Army refused to put him in command of a combat brigade, "a virtual death warrant for his Army career, relegating him to staff jobs as a colonel for the remainder of his service." ...

U.S. Ambassador to Germany nomination

On July 27, 2020, the White House announced Donald Trump's intent to nominate Macgregor as U.S. Ambassador to Germany. Following the announcement, Macgregor's history of controversial remarks received media attention. He has asserted that Muslim immigrants (referred to as "Muslim invaders") come to Europe "with the goal of eventually turning Europe into an Islamic state". Macgregor has argued that the German concept of Vergangenheitsbewältigung, used to cope with Germany's Nazi past and its atrocities during World War II, is a "sick mentality." Macgregor has also stated that martial law should be instituted on the U.S.-Mexico border and argued for the extrajudicial execution of those who cross the border at unofficial ports of entry. Macgregor has also made statements in support of Israel having defensible borders, the annexation of the Golan Heights, and the decision to move the U.S. embassy to Jerusalem. In a column in The Washington Post he was described as "a racist crackpot who is pro-Russia, anti-Merkel, anti-Muslim and anti-Mexican." His nomination stalled in the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations. On January 3, 2021, his nomination was returned to the President under Rule XXXI, Paragraph 6 of the United States Senate.

... Views on Russian annexation

In 2014, after Russia tried to annex Crimea and was engaged in a conflict with Ukraine over its eastern parts, Macgregor appeared on Russian state-owned network RT where he called for the annexation of the Donbas and said residents of the region "are in fact Russians, not Ukrainians, and at the same time, you have Ukrainians in the west and in the north, who are not Russians
