I don't disagree, but it's been so long since I watched the original I wanted to be cautious.
Queen & Slim is a 2019 American romantic road crime drama film directed by Melina Matsoukas (in her feature directorial debut) and with a screenplay by Lena Waithe from a story by James Frey and Waithe. The film's story centers on a young Black couple (Daniel Kaluuya and Jodie Turner-Smith) who go on the run after killing a police officer in the heat of an argument as self defense during a traffic stop....
... It received positive reviews from critics, with praise for Kaluuya and Turner-Smith's lead performances, Matsoukas' direction and its overall theme and message. It grossed $47 million on a $20 million budget.
Have you seen Napoleon Dynamite? It's a sort of teen movie that can be enjoyed by anyone who can remember their own teen years. My son loved it, so I saw it more than once.
$400,000 budget
Over 46 million in revenue

If you,ve lived through the covid era (which all of us have), then watch this movie. A very accurate satire of the present day.
Kate Dibiasky (Jennifer Lawrence), an astronomy grad student, and her professor Dr. Randall Mindy (Leonardo DiCaprio) make an astounding discovery of a comet orbiting within the solar system. The problem: it's on a direct collision course with Earth. The other problem? No one really seems to care. Turns out warning mankind about a planet-killer the size of Mount Everest is an inconvenient fact to navigate. With the help of Dr. Oglethorpe (Rob Morgan), Kate and Randall embark on a media tour that takes them from the office of an indifferent President Orlean (Meryl Streep) and her sycophantic son and Chief of Staff, Jason (Jonah Hill), to the airwaves of The Daily Rip, an upbeat morning show hosted by Brie (Cate Blanchett) and Jack (Tyler Perry). With only six months until the comet makes impact, managing the 24-hour news cycle and gaining the attention of the social media obsessed public before it's too late proves shockingly comical -- what will it take to get the world to just look up?!

Redgrave and Hoffman, what a delight to watch 2 of our finest actors ever! Plus, Dalton is no slouch.

Good movie.
I always thought Dalton was a very good Bond. Sorry he only did two of them.

Just finished "The Desert Fox", starring James Mason as Erwin Rommel.
Dated, a bit, but still not bad. It's in a semi-documentary type format, detailing his career in North Africa and Normandy, and his growing realization that Hitler is not all there, and will be the ruin of Germany.
Awww. , Useless. So much for "Ignored". You fail again. Plus, Useless, you've been busted too many times for anyone to believe you're not reading my posts, anyhow. It's just your excuse for cowering. Awww.
... We don’t know why, but Hollywood seems to have a mental block when properly casting mothers. At first glance, many seem fine — until you see the actor’s ages. You’d think there would be a sizable difference between the actors, but some are as little as 10 months. From 10 months to 12 years older, we don’t understand why Hollywood has a problem casting moms properly.
And on top of that, sometimes the actresses who play the moms are younger than their on-screen children. We have questions (and you probably do too)....
Get ready y’all because Amy Poehler was only seven years older than her on-screen daughter played by Rachael McAdams in Mean Girls.
... In the movie Alexander, Colin Farrell was 28 years old at the time and Angelina Jolie, who played his mother, was only 11 months older than him at the time.
... So when Sally Field played Tom Hanks’ mama in Forrest Gump, she was only 10 years older than him. And apparently, they even played lovers in the 1988 film Punchline, six years before.
... In Riding in Cars With Boys, Drew Barrymore played Adam Garcia’s mom despite the fact that she was two years younger than him.
... In real life, besties Laura Dern and Reese Witherspoon had to play mother and daughter once for the 2014 film Wild, despite Dern only being nine years older than Witherspoon.
... In the 2009 Star Trek film, Winona Ryder was cast as Zachary Quinto’s mother, despite only being five years older....
Those are standouts to me, but all are shockers. Why is this okay with the "mothers" and "children"?
I don't find that so mysterious. It's really easy for a make-up guy to make somebody look older. What I find more strange is the age of actors they cast as teenagers. F'rinstance: https://www.insider.com/real-ages-of-ac ... ies-2016-9

There's some crossover. Your link:
Rachel McAdams ruled the Plastics as queen bee Regina George in "Mean Girls." She was 25 when she was cast.
And, Poehler wasn't made up to look older. In fact, her role was as a 'trying too hard to be young and hip' mom.
Stockard Channing earned a People's Choice Award for her role as high school student Rizzo in the musical "Grease." She was 33 when she was cast in the role, and some of her costars, including Olivia Newton-John (30!), were also older than their characters.
... Rebel Wilson was supposed to be 19 in "Pitch Perfect." The actress was 32 when she played the college freshman.
Her costar Anna Kendrick played Beca, an 18-year-old college freshman. She was 27 at the time the movie was released.
And, Poehler wasn't made up to look older. In fact, her role was as a 'trying too hard to be young and hip' mom.
Fine, but the point remains the same - it's easier to make a younger person look older than vice versa; it's easier to make a slim person look fat than vice versa. The actors in films like "Grease" and "Glee" looked youthful for their age (e.g. Anna Kendrick at 36) and given the costuming and context could be believable if you didn't look too close. Unless you were looking at ONJ, in which case you could look as close as you like and she'll still look good.

I'm not disagreeing with your point, just noting our one crossover where the issue was mostly created by McAdams being so old.
To me, age inappropriate casting in either direction detracts from the film despite the miracles of makeup.

Had you rather have had Hoffman's character played by a dozen different actors? He played a teenager, a 121 year old man and everything in-between.
We're you distracted?

Of course not. He was one character, Jack Crabb, so makeup was the best and only option as he aged. That said, it would have been weird if 33 year old Hoffman played Young Jack Crabb rather than Ray Dimas and Adolescent Jack Crabb rather than Alan Howard. Do you wish that Hoffman played all roles?

More film noirs captured last night on the local Movies! channel.
Phone Call From a Stranger. 1952, Bette Davis, Michael Rennie. It's about the lone survivor of a plane crash contacting relatives of the deceased.
Detour, 1945, Tom Neal (Actor), Ann Savage (Actor)... "A New York night club pianist decides to hitchhike to Hollywood to join his girlfriend, but soon finds himself caught in a spiraling whirlpool of murder and deceit after a gambler gives him a ride and he meets a woman who knows too much about him."
Haven't watched either yet, but recorded both to DVD for later viewing (and fast forwarding through the commercial breaks)...
Tales of a group of siblings who are forced to fend for themselves when they are abandoned by their mother in the parking lot of a shopping mall. They eventually meet their grandmother, a loner who is reluctant to take them in.
Much better than the average TV movie. 65 year old Anne Bancroft is terrific.
