COVIDiots

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

So I'm reading the digital version of the newspaper this morning and thought that today's "Dilbert" took a very clear and clever poke at those who choose to ignore experts.

Although the strip didn't mention any particular topic, it seemed obvious the principle could be applied to the covidiots.

Without any comment needed, I posted the strip for the enjoyment of any members who hadn't seen it.

Nobody hates science.
I don't hate science.
Dilbert the character doesn't hate science.
Scott Adams the writer doesn't hate science.
There is nothing in the strip nor in any non-existent accompanying comments to indicate anybody hates science.
Even the doofus character in the strip doesn't hate science, and refers only to "experts" whom he originally says to follow.
Why? Because Useless embodies a particularly distasteful combo of stupidity, ignorance and cowardice.

I was making a joke.

Of course you don't hate science.

Of course I don't hate science.

There may be some here who do hate science, but I already have them on ignore so I don't give a shit what they think.

It would help if your "humor" was actually humorous. Instead, it's unrecognizable. Fail.

Funny, you reject eco-science in favor of personal convenience at every turn.

Pussy projection, as usual.

So ten pilots are suing the CDC in a dispute about science.

The question we should all be asking should be is it really safe to fly?

JetBlue, American Airlines, and Southwest pilots are suing the CDC over the federal mask mandate, saying it ignores scientific studies showing it is 'ineffective'

When did America stop being a free country?

Not that I oppose the mask and other covid related mandates, but people have every right to file a lawsuit.

Personally I think we'd be much better off with mandatory covid vaccinations for all (with reasonable exceptions).

And I just read that there are some lucky people with genetic dispositions that essentially make them immune to covid anyway. Not many people, but it makes me wonder.

I started wondering if it was safe to fly when that German co pilot locked the pilot out of the cabin when he went to the bathroom and then flew the plane into the French (I think) Alps. I've not flown since 97 and don't expect to. I read today that China supposedly is working on a plane that will fly from Hong Kong to New York in an hour. I don't want to ride it.

Do you mean, "Is it safe to fly?" during this pandemic, or "Is it safe to fly?" because of general hazards of passenger aviation travel, regardless of the pandemic, as neopablum seems to indicate?

Dadburnit! Dagnabbit! Goddamnit! I AM NOT NEOPABLUM ON HERE OR ANYWHERE ELSE! And what was meant is that if the pilots are that fucking stupid with regard to science, perhaps we should be leery that, because of their own evident tendency toward wingnuttery, perhaps pilots such as the ones in the story might just decide to put a plane load of maskers out of their misery without telling them ahead of time.

 I was wondering if anyone would make that connection. Now let's watch Useless moan about what it all means.....shouldn't take but about two hours. I'll just claim that's Laszlo Disposito, recent former head of the NYSE

Hell, that's no deal. You know why? Because I don't care if you call me neopresidio or neolithic or even neo urotic. Did you ever confess about bringing dog shit here? Oh, here's some clues about what the photo of the old guy is about.......there is a bell involved and there is some stomping involved. There is no music in this one. And he's frustrated that everybody misunderstands him. Actually, he reminds me of you in that regard. And you are, in fact, Oddball, Useless, and Punchy whether you realize it or not.
