Hopefully the new Howard Terminal site will be well above sea level.
To date the A's have gained no traction with their proposed Howard Terminal ballpark. In July, the Oakland City Council voted to approve a non-binding term sheet for the project, though team officials say they won't accept the term sheet as presented. That paves the way for the Athletics to leave Oakland. The hang-up is more than $800 million in public funds for infrastructure.

Earlier this week commissioner Rob Manfred confirmed relocation is on the table for the Athletics, adding he is not optimistic about a new deal to keep the team in Oakland. Here's what Manfred said during an interview with the Sports Business Journal (video):

"Both Oakland and Tampa need new facilities. It's kind of beyond debate at this point. Oakland is probably critical, just in terms of the condition of the ballpark. Whatever you want to say about Tampa, it's playable for right now and they have a least that goes through 2027. Oakland's in a critical situation. We need to find a way to get new ballparks built in those two cities or -- particularly in the case of Oakland -- we've had to open up the opportunity to explore other locations just because it's dragged on so long. Frankly, in some ways we're not sure we see a path to success in terms of getting something built in Oakland. (Relocation) is a possibility. They've been talking to Las Vegas, it's gotten a lot of publicity, but there are options in terms of relocation in addition to Las Vegas."
But slightly more recently (Oct)...

More recently...

Momentum builds for new Oakland A's ballpark, but hard work remains
Momentum is building to construct a new baseball stadium at Oakland's Charles P. Howard Terminal with the certification of a key environmental document Thursday night. But, hard work is ahead.

The Oakland City Council voted 6-2 to certify the final environmental impact report and pave the way for a binding financial agreement between the city and the Oakland Athletics. That may happen this summer.

Once that does happen, then ground can be broken.

MLB cancels 93 more games, gap narrows in bargaining
Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred canceled 93 more games Wednesday, appearing to cut off the chance to play a full 162-game schedule and threatening locked out players with loss of salary and service time.

...

In the meantime, at 6:30 p.m. on the 98th day of the lockout, Manfred announced two additional series had been canceled through April 13. That raised the total to 184 games wiped out from the 2,430-game regular season, or 7.6%.

...

The union reacted angrily to Manfred's announcement.

“The owners’ decision to cancel additional games is completely unnecessary,” it said in a statement. “After making a set of comprehensive proposals to the league earlier this afternoon and being told substantive responses were forthcoming, players have yet to hear back.”
Well, there's always football, right?

I'd really like to get season ticket, since:

1) The Oakland Coliseum is a great place to see games
2) The A's are my favorite BB team
3) I have plenty of time now that I'm retired
4) Probably good weather the rest of the year
5) If I buy now, possibly the owners will discount tickets
6) Anything else? Oh, I like baseball.
Wouldn't buying a ticket now be supporting the owner over the players? Is that the side you want to pick? Why?
Cower, Useless, cower.

Almost ordered some tickets for the first local game here.

Kind off pricey.

Might try to wait for some discounted ones.

With average attendance under 20,000 for the last twenty years I wouldn't sweat availability too much.

Yeah, a couple three years ago (pre-pandemic) I was able to get some tickets in late summer for a song.

Providing the lockout is resolved (the owners still have to approve the settlement, a formality), here is the schedule for the 2022 MLB season. Note that it will start a week late, with the missing games made up later in the season via double-headers and/or playing on off-days.
April 7: Opening Day. MLB and the MLBPA will pick up the existing schedule rather than build a new one, and there are only eight games on the schedule that day. Here is the April 7 schedule (times to be announced):

White Sox at Royals
Red Sox at Yankees
Mariners at Twins
Pirates at Cardinals
Mets at Nationals
Reds at Braves
Brewers at Cubs
Astros at Angels
Padres at Diamondbacks

That White Sox vs. Royals game was originally going to be the final game of a three-game series. In all likelihood that game will be postponed and made up at a later date, and the two clubs will begin their seasons with a fresh new series on April 8. Teams not listed have a scheduled off-day April 7 and begin a new series April 8. Here is the April 8 schedule:

White Sox at Tigers (new series)
Brewers at Cubs
Athletics at Phillies (new series)
Orioles at Rays (new series)
Dodgers at Rockies (new series)
Marlins at Giants (new series)
Mets at Nationals
Rangers at Blue Jays (new series)
Reds at Braves
Guardians at Royals (new series)
Astros at Angels
Padres at Diamondbacks

Didn't the Rangers just spend a gazillion dollars to put an air conditioned baseball field inside a warehouse?

Money well spent on a team that finished 35 games out? Maybe with a new stadium they'll get up to 20 games out.
