Real estate market gone amocker.
3BR 1BA house listed for $1.2 mill, sold in a week for $2.5 mill, with over 60 offers.
Bought in 1983 for $155K.

Re: Thinking of moving to the country?
Yup.
I know of someone who paid around $200k for a house 20 years ago.
It's now worth $1.1 million; perhaps more if there's a bidding war.
The one catch may be rising interest rates. People may start lowering their bids if they figure the banks are charging too much.
Whatever.

I stand by my definition. In fact my last 2 sows were named Pork Chop and Pork Chop 2.

Damn right. On top of that, there is no legless bacon but there is legless bakin'. As for moving to the country, the Allman Brothers got it right in the "Statesboro Blues" song......"I'm goin to the country, baby do you wanna go? If you can't make it baby, your sister Lucille said she wanna go. And I sure will take her."billy.pilgrim wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 6:54 amI stand by my definition. A pork chop is just a heart attack by another name.

Yes, leggy bacon can certainly be baked in legless ovens but the amount and kind of ridicule to be expected from legless baking will vary from campsite to campsite. One group of campers may just snicker and whisper uncomplimentary comments while another group of more activist campers may go as far as taking the wheels off your van, truck, or car and then mocking the legless baker with taunts of "now, see how this works?"

Re: Thinking of moving to the country?
It occurred to me that in hundreds of campgrounds and RV parks over the past 20ish or more years, I've never seen anybody bring along a portable oven. Lots of nice grills, smokers, electric plates, etc., but no oven. Somebody might have had one, since I can't say I've inspected every single camp site at every park, but still. I have seen people bring along fridges of fairly large size, soda/beer machines, wood-burning stoves, commercial-grade flat-style grills, fish cookers, but no ovens. Of course, all the motorcoaches and large travel trailers have ovens, either gas or convection, but no portable units.

I'd be willing to bet that all those grills, smokers, hot plates, etc. had legs or at least a semblance of legs. I've seen a few old west 1870's era tv shows that have a bit part for a legless Civil War veteran who gets around by holding what appear to be wooden blocks in each hand to facilitate his forward or backward movement. Guys like him would appreciate a legless oven.

Re: Thinking of moving to the country?
Seems to me that a propane range in a van would be a carbon monoxide hazard. Even if he could move it and the 20 pound (!) tank outside easily, he's screwed when it's raining. It's not like his van has an awning or ventilation fans inside like you do.O Really wrote: ↑Mon Apr 18, 2022 12:54 pmIt occurred to me that in hundreds of campgrounds and RV parks over the past 20ish or more years, I've never seen anybody bring along a portable oven. It's tragic, Useless will never be able to cook or bake without thinking of you. ¡Buen provecho, Useless!
