Airlines letting people take off their masks mid-flight and letting them cheer and breathe in each others' faces. Rules established by companies in response to the mandate were immediately rescinded. And nobody - No effin' body - as far as I have seen has explained the simple truth that (a) the CDC has not changed it recommendation; (b) the judge, not a medical professional, made her individual ruling in crazy Florida based on a criminal-level misunderstanding of health law; (c) (assume Sam Kinneson) NOTHING IS DIFFERENT EXCEPT FOR ONE BONEHEAD RULING THAT IS SURE TO BE OVERTURNED!! Well, I agree completely. However, what's done is done. There's no stopping you from wearing a good (N95) mask. Although AFAIK masks are most effective at preventing carriers from expelling viruses from their airways; less effective at preventing airborne viruses from entering your own airway.

Out here most stores, public transit, and businesses are still requiring face masks; it's just the feds that have dropped the requirement.

Personally I've been fully vaccinated (2nd booster) so I'm not too worried. Plus I test myself at home and have never registered positive for Covid. Probably five home tests in addition to four or five tests at med centers since the pandemic started. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm one of those lucky few with some Viking ancestry who have genetic immunity to covid. Just guesssing there. But I'll continue wearing a mask and getting vaccinated as is appropriate.

I have seen reported several times:

This is a Dolt .45 appointed judge;
The CDC recommendation remains the same;
The CDC is appealing, as much to protect its ability to fight future pandemics as to preserve its authority with this one.

I have not seen guesses as to whether the CDC will prevail, but I hope you're correct.

Fwiw, the airlines are claiming that their air circulation and filtration makes infection unlikely, . Of course, cruise ships, trains, buses, taxis and ride shares are not as high tech.

Let's see: one of the factors that may signal higher resistance to covid is blood type: Type O, Rh neg.

Which is exactly my blood type.
