Yeah, as you've shown oxide is more of a modifier for combinations than a stand alone. Can't think of a way you'd use it as is in a sentence.

That would seem more natural, if one used 'exode' at all in the sentence. However, the #2 definition for 'exode' above seems to set it up as a synonym for 'exodus'. Otoh:
'Exode' doesn't list any synonyms;
'Exodus' doesn't list 'exode' as being a synonym;
The merriam-webster thesaurus doesn't even think that 'exode' is a word.
