The Religion Thread

Generally an unmoderated forum for discussion of pretty much any topic. The focus however, is usually politics.

Ummm, Leo - the point is that the portrait is supposed to be Adam and Eve. According to Biblical account, God created Adam directly, and Eve from one of his ribs. Belly buttons have only the use of umbilical remains from birth. Neither Adam nor Eve was born, thus they could not possibly have had navels.

I know what point he's making, what I'm saying is that the portrait was painted long after Adam & Eve was created, and since people had navels when the portrait was painted, to leave them off would make for a pretty silly looking painting.

Since no one knows what Adam & Eve looked like, why did the painter give them a face? Maybe they were three-legged? Three-eyed? Maybe Adam was the one with boobs? Now aren't my questions are about as silly as Banni's?

Banni's disbelief in God or the Creation is bothering him so much, he's trying his absolute damndest to post all the hate he can muster to convince himself and drag others into the same muck he's in. Misery loves company.

Banni's unbelief and hate in God has gone to his belly-button.

Dummy. We're talking about the frickin' painting. Religion may be a fantasy to y'all, but the painting is real.

You lose again loser; even what hatches out of an egg has a umbilical.
You, OTOH, wouldn't have a umbilical, because two buzzards flying backward bumped asses and you fell out.

I may have to side with him - art has to appeal to its patrons, not be logical. It's not like the painting was from an ancient biology text, though it could appear in a current Louisiana one.
Please either restate or alter your response before I reply.
Apology for calling you a dummy. As I said, we're talking about a frickin' painting. Religion may be a fantasy to y'all, but the painting is real. It's not like Adam & Eve were posing live for the portrait. Had that been the case, I would have questioned the navels. (providing that I was struggling to find something to piss and moan about to begin with)

(why can't we go back and edit anymore after there's been a posting?)

I usually start out with the idea that Adam and Eve never even existed. But
apparently someone seemed to think they came from some part of northern
Europe. Whatever.

Don't get angry, Leo, he meant it in a good way.
And he wants to kiss yours, too. Don't give him any personal information. The word "stalker" comes to mind when I read Homo's posts.

Fascinating in the same way a train wreck is fascinating. I don't care if it's Warren Jeffs or Tom Cruise- we need better rules to police what these religions (and the asshole psychos hiding behind the phony label of religion) are allowed to do to kids, even their own. Germany has more adult attitude toward such nonsense as Scientology.

I dunno. The Republicans picked a Mormon to run in 2012. I suspect that Karl Rove and many Republican backers are looking at Scientology's leadership and liking what they see.

Tom Cruise in 2016....?

I didn't know a Pope could resign. If he's appointed or anointed by God, can he just say "I'm outta here" without frying for eternity?
