Upgrade Time! Maybe?

TLDR; It's time to update the operating system that brd runs on. Expect downtime! Friday will be bumpy!
I'll update this post to keep everyone informed of status of when it's all clear and/or update with a plan.


We'll be going from Ubuntu 18.04 to Ubuntu 22.04 traveling 4 years into the future. I'll snapshot the system and do an in place upgrade. I honestly don't expect it will work very well and if not, I'll restore from backup. That in itself will probably cause a few hours of downtime. If it does work, great! If not, I'll come up with a migration plan, and may or may not execute that also this weekend. If we have to migrate the downtime will be greater and also lots of work that I may opt to wait on.

Just thinking back. I think we started on 14.04 when I switched from web hosting to running the entire operating system for more control and less censoring..... wow... 2014.

Well... we're back in the original condition, the upgrade proved to be too much. The forum would have worked but it broke countless other things.

I'm leaving everything alone now and it should be stable.
