... At this point, all we can really do is list some fun facts.

The Blue Jays scored 28 runs, a franchise record. They had set the record by the fifth inning. All but one of the runs were earned. Every one of their starters had a multi-hit game. Every one of their starters had a multi-run game. They hit five home runs, including the Tapia nonsense. Their 29 hits and 49 total bases came a few shy of franchise records. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had a franchise record-tying six hits. The Red Sox didn't post a scoreless inning until the seventh inning.

It was the kind of night where comedy seamlessly blends with tragedy, no more so than when a man went through with his ballpark proposal and received a fitting musical backing, as noted by a veteran television actor.



The game finally, mercifully came to and end with Red Sox infielder Yolmer Sanchez pitching. Just about the only bright side is the loss only counted as one loss for the 48-46 Red Sox.

... Duran didn't even bother running to the wall to get the ball, as left fielder Alex Verdugo was already running to corral the ball....

We don't see Verdugo until he enters the frame late, but I THINK Duran could see that Verdugo would beat him to the ball. The writer seems to be giving him a pass on that part of the play.

The Little League World Series is a lot of fun. Incredible how good these 12ish year old kid are. Italian team pulled off a triple play - actually it would have been a quadruple play if they could have counted it all. Pitchers flinging 60-70mph fast balls, curves, sliders. Infielders picking up short hops on the run and a rifle throw to first base. Diving catches. And just enough fumbles to remind you they really are just kids.
