It's named after the state. Little different than a Central U, or an east, north, west and south U. I agree than Middle sounds funny to most, but Tennessee people have been referring to the center of the state as Middle long before there was a school, so it sounds natural to us.O Really wrote: ↑Sun Sep 25, 2022 11:42 amNo offence intended for you or your family. I'll grant that few states and counties use Middle over the more common Central and 4 compass directions.
Are there any schools called Upper or Lower.

FL uses "Central" rather than "Middle". I wonder if either it or TN had a debate over the choice of descriptor.
Think he meant "Central", too?

That makes more sense since the lower Columbia River is a real thing. "Upper" is an artificial construct based on our Eurocentric globe and maps. Northern Iowa, Northeast Iowa and Eastern Iowa were already taken, though. Maybe Far Southwest Wisconsin University?
AP Top 25
The Top 9 still suck, even with OK and Ark ousted.
10. North Carolina State, up 2, 4-0 - Nice!
13. Oregon, up 2, 3-1 - Cool!
15. Washington, up 3, 4-0 - GoLadyOGo!
18. Oklahoma, down 12!, 3-1

20. Arkansas, down 10! 3-1

21. Minnesota, up 12! 4-0

UNC down 4 to (#33)

App St, Auburn, MD and SDSU - 0 votes.

There are Middle Tennessee everythings. Banks, car dealers, laundries, malls, stores, all have at least a few Middle Tennessees in their names. MTSU was name long after the region was called Middle Tennessee.

Bama sang "we just beat the hell out of you at losing teams and fans since forever.
We sang it back to them during our 6 year run, so they took hell out of their cheer and piled on Auburn for using curse words in a cheer.
Now that they're winning again
It is safe to say that Alabama does not like Auburn. If that wasn’t clear before, it was very clear on Saturday night.
As is tradition in Tuscaloosa, the Alabama (the band) song ‘Dixieland Delight’ had Bryant-Denny Stadium ROCKING as the Tide put a beatdown on the Vanderbilt Commodores. However, after being asked to leave the colorful language out of the song, the fans did not hold back.
Here is how Alabama football fans’ Dixieland Delight chorus sing-a-long is supposed to go:
ALABAMA: “Spent my dollar”
FANS: ON BEER!
A: “Parked in a holler ‘neath the mountain moonlight”
F: ROLL TIDE!
A: “Hold her uptight”
F: AGAINST THE WALL
A: “Make a little lovin'”
F: ALL NIGHT!
A: “A little turtle dovin’ on a Mason-Dixon night”
F: F–K AUBURN!
A: “Fits my life”
F: AND LSU!
A: “oh, so right”
F: AND TENNESSEE TOO!
Everybody together: “MY DIXIELAND DELIGHT!”
Here they were on Saturday
Here is how Alabama football fans’ Dixieland Delight sing-a-long went on Saturday night:
After getting through the chorus, the Crimson Tide fans continued to express their dislike for the Tigers throughout the entire second verse.
ALABAMA: “White-tail buck deer”
FANS: F–K AUBURN!
A: “Munchin’ on clover”
F: F–K AUBURN!
A: “Red-tail hawk sittin’ on a limb”
F: F–K AUBURN!
A: “Chubby old groundhog, croakin’ bullfrog”
F: F–K AUBURN!
A: “Free as the feelin’ in the wind”
F: F–K AUBURN!
A: “Home-grown country girl”
F: F–K AUBURN!

I may have to become a bammer.
He's doing pretty good at Jackson State, 16-5.

I'm kinda hoping for Huge Freeze, or even Lane.
Vrede too wrote: ↑Fri Sep 23, 2022 11:45 amYou've already written Blufield's epitaph? How long is his contract for and can Auburn afford serial buyouts?
I don't mind it as much when they've got the talent to back it up, and Sanders has the honors and rings to prove the talent. I haven't followed his post-play career closely. He hasn't pissed me off as an analyst, but that's the most I can say about that or coaching.
Fwiw, Jackson State is 4-0, 1st in the SWAC East, #8 in the FCS Coaches Poll. It would be pretty rude to leave mid-season when doing so well. If he's even a serious contender maybe he's hoping that Blufield limps through to the last game.

Good on the Huskies for scoring 16 unanswered in the 4th and putting themselves in a position to tie, 32-40. Will WA still be ranked? Will formerly unranked 5-0 UCLA get ranked?
